Chiefs win the SB but don’t be overconfident

This board cracks me up. Some of yall are like teenage girls in how up and down you get with the chiefs. The general consensus appeared to be that we would be one and done in the playoffs. Go check the “believe what your eyes see” thread. And now that we’ve won, some here are over confident.

Look at the matchups. The weakness of the chiefs is our offensive tackles against speed rushers. we saw this in our worst game against the raiders. We need Pat comfortable and the 49ers dline has the skill set to be a real problem. Compound that with Andy’s unwillingness to run the ball at times and this could be a real problem. Andy needs to stay committed to the run game. The 49ers have Bosa, Armstead, Hargrave, young and don’t sleep on kinlaw or Gregory either. They have the talent on the dline to really disrupt us if we get pass happy. We probably don’t have thuney and allegriti played well but the DT’s are better and quick. Holding penalties could be a real problem also. My fear is if the 49ers get out early to a lead and Andy abandons the run game. We could be in trouble. The lions offensive line is a strength so don’t look at that game and see Goff with time and expect our oline to produce the same results. The lions had one of the best offensive lines in the nfl, easily top 5 with decker and Sewell and their center also. I like our chances offensively if we can mix up the run like the lions with jet sweeps, fakes, tosses and power running. And if we can run play action off of that, we look real good as well. Quick passes and timing routes are helpful also. We need to minimize our weakness against their strength, which our weakness is our offensive tackles in pass pro and their dline in pass rush is a strength.

Defensively, our defense is so good. Really incredible. We will miss omenihu and his ability to win one on one will be missed and that’s a problem. Attacking the right side of that line with karlaftis and jones will be key. Trent Williams is a beast on that left side. Our LBs are a strength and getting willie gay back is huge in matching up with the 49ers speed and skill players. We need this to be another low scoring game where we run the ball and have long sustained drives. Our cbs are amazing and watching them matchup with deebo and aiyuk will be fun to watch. I like our defense here and trust spags to mix it up. If the 49ers get up a score and begin to run a lot, that’s concerning. We’ve shown that we can give up yardage in the run game and we were fortunate that the ravens abandoned the run. They REALLY messed that up. We will also miss Nnadi. He’s not great but his athleticism helps him with scrambling qbs like Purdy. Pennel can’t catch anyone. I still like our defense here but our strength will be defending the pass. But if the 49ers run the ball a lot and get us off balance, they can be dangerous.

Keys to the game:

- get an early lead and put pressure on the 49ers to rely on the pass
- chiefs need to run the ball ALOT, Andy can’t get pass happy with their dline.if their pass rush gets going and mahomes is rushed, we could see holding penalties and possibly turnovers from tipped passes and etc.
- creativity in the run game with jet sweeps, fakes, tosses, middle screens and mix in that Pacheco power running
- time of possession. We need long sustained drives like we had against Baltimore and chew the clock and shorten the game.
- Chris jones and karlaftis need a big game and spags needs to dial Up some key blitzes. Their RBs don’t pass block that well, so we need to get them in passing situations and get to Purdy or force him to hurry and make mistakes.
- chiefs wrs need to hold on to the ball on runs, fumbles on short passes or runs could be fatal bc the 49ers are hard to stop when they play from a lead and lean into their run game and short passes with run after the catch opens up some passing lanes for Purdy.
- LT Smith against Chase young. We don’t need to see Superman chase young. If gets up for this game and plays like he’s capable, that could be a big problem. Young’s play is inconsistent. And he hasn’t played well lately. If Smith can block young, we can chip on Bosa. I think Smith plays up for this game but this matchup will be key.
- deebos health. If deebo exits the game, that is critically favorable to us. Deebo is an extension of their run game and really helps spags to focus in on key blitzes because you can focus more on cmc.
- kick the field goal. Keep the game close and don’t miss scoring opportunities. Keep the pressure on the 49ers to pass.

Chiefs win the game but it’s another close game. We win 20-19. 49ers have to settle for 4 field goals and we run the ball to finish the game. Bet the under again. Andy watches enough film to run the ball creatively and use the screen game to eat up the clock again. Our defense carries us to another victory and mahomes makes three or four critical throws to win the game. Go chiefs but don’t be over confident. This will be a tougher game than the ravens or the bills bc of Bosa and that dline.

This is just diet LIV.

The defense and running game we have are going to mash this 49ers team into a pulp, and Mahomes will cut off their heads.

Not to mention the enormous strawman about everyone here thinking we'd be one and done. At a minimum, we were pretty damn confident against the injured Dolphins in the cold. Perhaps there's more of a debate against the Bills and Ravens, but even then I think most of us expected it to be a close game at least.
