Tulsa came out and played a great game. We struggled with their zone and some of the new guys made some bad fouls. Fred wasn't Fred in the second half and the bench wasn't a lot of help. We didn't make our threes and didn't complete on free throws. Tulsa was lights out. They're going to have a good season. We'll be ok. Good learning opportunity. |

Part of Tulsa's game plan was to run and drive more than normal when Fred was in the game due to his injuries and inability to be conditioned like normal because of said injuries. The Shockers responded by packing it in a little more than normal and Tulsa hit 3's given to them by the strategy. That coupled with a slightly off night behind the arc cost the Shockers the game. I think Tulsa won more than Wichita lost, but if they meet again the strategies will be different from both sides.

From the Shocker perspective, I'm honestly not too upset. We've been very spoiled the past few years and generally won those games. The freshmen and sophomores need to learn that Fred and Baker can't carry them, they have to pull their own weight. |

This feels similar to the early loss at Utah last season (except that was a much closer game).
Tulsa seems like a team likely to be top 25 and with 9 seniors (?) will be very experienced. Wake up call for the new Shockers |

KU lost to #18 Michigan St. so it'll be interesting to see where we both land in the poll but it's early.

Fred shouldn't have played, I know he probably begged to be out there, but he needs to rest til hes 100%. His ineffective defense killed us and he usually is one of better defenders. We will bounce back. Tulsa will be a top 25 team all year imo.

Well this thread has died! Rough couple of games and breaks for the team but adversity builds character. We'll need the bench to step up their game. We've come back from worse. GO SHOX.

Brutal week for the Shox. Wow. Is VanVleet vital to this team's success or what

Word is that he'll be back for the next game. It's not just Van Vleet that hurts but Shamet looked to be very talented for a freshman and I believe he's been running the point in practice. We missed him and it showed as the offense was very sloppy throughout the tournament
