My wife and I finally broke down and purchased a notebook computer, and have initiated the process of switching to DSL.

I've spent most of the day today familiarizing myself with the notebook, and will set up the DSl on Wednesday.

As a computer illiterate, I am looking forward to the self install with some trepidation, but I'm not going to pay some one else $200 to do it for me.

If I screw it up, my step son says he'll make the drive 120 mile drive to fix it for us.

Does your notebook have 802.11g?

That's kind of cool when you are on the road.

It's a Compaq Presario 2201US.
I haven't seen anything that says it's 802.11g.

The wireless router I purchased is 802.11g, though.

The wireless router will be useless unless your Laptop is 802.11.

I bought a dell laptop with wireless DSL a couple of months ago. I love surfing on my couch in front the big screen!!

Don't worry about setup...if you have problems, call'em up and they will walk you through it.

Well, I've got the wireless set up, and am now posting from my notebook.

It's going to take some getting used to.

On another subject, where's a good site to find pictures to use as an avatar?

Google images. Pretty much it's any picture you want, you just have to resize it.
