There is no comparison. College Basketball is the sleaziest of all sports. You don’t need more than a couple of real difference makers in order to be a legit threat. It is what ignites the feeding frenzy of going after, and locking down a high level NBA-ready prospect. It’s not the same in College Football. Don’t get me wrong, they cheat like hell and pay for the top talent in high school FB, but it’s the minor leagues compared to the sleaze-fest that is College and AAU Basketball.

I never said that. I stated they have no direct contact with the player or parents relative to handling or negotiating a deal.

They absolutely know what the hell is going on

I think it is possible that KU does get in serious trouble over this, but I don't see how that happens UNLESS all of the "Blue Bloods" come down with them. Everyone knew this was happening, and I don't think the NCAA wants to do anything that could cause the entirety of college bball to crumble - but who knows at this point.

I think unless they can show a money trail from X player to KU that this will come down to either no punishment or a slap on the wrist.

If they want go deeper to prove that money trail exist, then they are going to have to start digging into the Williamson recruitment. Williamson asked for a bunch of stuff (housing, money, etc) - he didn't ask for that stuff from KU only. That means they are going to have bring Duke into the conversation and I'm not sure they want to do that. Since he didn't end up at KU, the question would have to be "What did Duke give him to get him on campus?"

Rumor over on reddit is that the Williamson family is living in a $800,000 home in Durham. If true, quite the jump from South Carolina.

Oh I totally get why the NBA likes it.

I don't understand how it has survived court challenges by 18 year-olds that wanted to go straight to the NBA. I've thought about trying to track down the legal rulings, but have been too lazy.

Your restaurant chain might like to only hire women in their 20's, that isn't going to withstand court challenge either.

The NBA has an anti-trust exemption in law, but I don't see why that would have anything to do with age discrimination.
