What's wrong with the Bob Sutton scheme?
Set the talent level aside for a second. The scheme itself I contend is bunk. It appears to be a complete read & react defense. Sutton seems to "play not to lose" from a defensive aspect. Turnovers are what his scheme hinges on.

It just appears to be an indecisive scheme. Afraid to commit to attack the run or pass on any given play. It's like he's afraid to run blitz because it may not be a run. He's afraid to pass blitz because they may run the ball. His zone scheme does not seem to call for defenders manning up on offensive players in their zone.

I just can't get a read on what it is he is trying to do. It looks like he is trying to defend against everything all the time. It doesn't really come off that much different than the RAC 3-4.

Sutton needs to understands that letting a team have a 14 play drive chewing up 9 minutes of clock is counterproductive.

Bring the heat...all out blitz, etc...if they score quickly than we get the offense back on the field. With Ford, Houston, Jones, etc...he has the ability to force the game & make the other team face some pressure. It's better than having them cover RB's out of the backfield.

Andy needs to think about onside kicks too.

Our defense was much better today when Sutton started lining up Ford on one end and Houston/Speaks on the other and letting them attack. It changed everything. Suddenly Rosen got nervous and doing stupid stuff. It even opened up the middle for jones and bailey.

Yes because this was the first week Sutton has rushed two outside linebackers on one play during a game.

Somehow he got the team to rack up 26 QB sacks without doing that once before this week.
