Fantastic. Another way for refs to insert themselves into the game.

Just make it flag football. It’s already hard enough for a defense to function in today’s NFL.

I can't Belize this idea.

I think it's one of those frog-boiling scenarios with slow rules changes. They'll never formally make a transition to flag football, but one of these days we'll be watching a game and we'll say, "Heyyyyy, this is just flag football now."

I mean, at this point why not just tell defenders they have to politely ask the QB to go down, and if he disagrees you just run back into coverage and try to do what you can without giving anyone an ouchie.

It's about to be the 20th anniversary of the rules becoming incredibly slanted in favor of the offense.

If Mahomes holds onto the ball and can be slick enough in the backfield he can extend plays and pick up chunk yardage...But if Mahomes holds onto the ball he's going to absorb dirty hits and could wind up with a silly putty kneecap (RGIII) or take a major concussion. It's a tradeoff. I'd prefer to see Mahomes find some middle ground because that wild shit with the Jag's was a shock to the system. More QB roughing rules and regulations won't help.

I can’t understand the caveman thinking that they’d rather see backups play so players can hit hard. This tackle is super dangerous. It’s basically like a horse collar and that is sensibly flagged every time. I’m against stupid nonsense like giving refs too much say on things like the body weight rule or tossing a qb to the ground. But this one is pretty much a no brainer.
