No doubt, but that’s not exactly easy to do either.

Just think he deserves some credit for where the rest of the roster is at now after a great offseason. And he’s at least set them up nicely to go get their guy next year.

But yea, it doesn’t mean shit if he misses again.

I kind of agree. I mean, it IS a big IF, but there's some pretty decent parts there. The area they still look weak is CB. But the Nakobe Dean pick was a steal at a position of need, and they had some pretty intriguing UDFA grabs.

A factor to this draft that nobody is taking into account when discussing Veach going out to improve our pass rush is drafting Leo Chenal. He got 8 sacks last year for Wisconsin and that’s in the big10 where OL play is pretty damn good. Once we make another move to bring in a veteran DE, I’d expect our pass rush to be significantly improved by adding a vet, Leo and George.

I’m super excited to see WGJ and Leo destroying Russ, Herbert, Allen and any other QB that thinks he’s going to gain yards on the ground when nobody’s open due to our outstanding secondary.

We’re in for a real treat, guys.

Not sure if you saw, but they signed Bradberry.

Him and Slay should be a solid short term duo.

Don't forget Bryan Cook he is a thumper, I'm calling him the next Deron Cherry or this generation Deron Cherry. He is going launch a quarterback into the stands knocking him out of bounds.

Just getting past McDuffie they won't really get past him. Quarterbacks are ****ed if they want to take off running against us. McDuffie can fly from his side of the field to the other side to make a tackle before 5 yards are made.

I've mentioned this before but when you look at Chenal's sacks, almost all of them are 'hustle' sacks. Plays where he was in the flats, the QB didn't see a guy and Chenal turned upfield to bring him down.

You'll see far fewer of those at this level. The rest were interior blitzes and while I think we'll see a handful of those, Niemann and Sorensen, for all the things they sucked at, were actually fairly effective interior blitzers.

I think we may see a little improvement there from Chenal over that group, but I don't think it's going to be some massive improvement. Chenal isn't going to be Micah Parsons or Von Miller out there. My hope would be that over time we'll see him used in a similar manner to Bruce Irvin in Seattle, but that's going to take a little time and I don't think we see that this year.

If our sack numbers improve, it'll be on the backs of the secondary. They'll just have to be able to hang in the receivers pockets another half second or longer this season. Because I actually think we could see a decline in overall pressure rates. Those pressures we do get will just need to play up a bit w/ an improved secondary.

I'm still pretty confident that Bradberry sucks.

But hey - been wrong before.

I have absolutely ZERO interest in that guy at $10 million, though. Maybe a $6 million. Maybe. But I'd rather take that $6 million and see how far it goes in a possible early extension for Fenton.

I'm surprised anyone thought that was still going to be a thing. Would of thought the 3 corners they drafted would put any talk of that to a halt.

See, that’s the thing.

When you game plan for QBs like Russ, Herbert and Allen (or Kyler Murray in the opener) you don’t design your rush to attack a point on the field like typical pocket guys like Carr. You play the contain game “mush rush” and you focus on coverage while you close lanes and push upfield to prevent the QB from breaking contain.

That’s where guys like Chenal, Karlaftis, WGJ, Bolton and this secondary are going to be really dangerous. Hopefully, Veach can swing a trade for a good DE or at least signs a vet that can push Frank to the bench.
