Car Stereo Problem

I replaced the front speakers in my 2016 Fusion on Thursday, and now I have constant power to my stereo which is killing my battery. The stereo shuts off when I open my door, but is still trickling some power and is able to be turned on even with no key in the ignition. I am also getting some constant white noise in the old speakers. Installed the mids with a factory harness, cut the clips off the tweeters to get those installed.

I am at a total loss here, it is the original head unit and I didn’t touch that at all during the install. I wouldn’t think speaker replacement would cause an issue such as this, but here we are. Anyone have any ideas or experience with this sort of issue?

Ground the speakers? I used a wiring harness, don’t think I need to do more.

Replacing speakers without touching HU shouldn't, in any way, cause this issue.. its almost not possible.. like I cant wrap my mind around how this would happen. It would have to be some insanely obscure thing, but my bet is that is is unrelated in the way that you think.

Unhook speakers, if the problem goes away, then reappears on hooking up the speakers, then something is wrong af.

I know. This absolutely should not exist.

I’ve tried and still get the issue with the stock speakers reinstalled and with no speakers installed.

The ONLY thing I can think of is something got messed up by snipping the ends of the tweeter wires? But that shouldn’t matter either if I leave them unconnected.

I don’t see any other stereo equipment hooked up by the previous owner, but I suppose it’s worth a look to pull the head unit out and see if there’s anything ****y back there. Maybe it’s always done this and I never realized it? And the new speakers are pulling enough power to kill the battery? Doesn’t seem likely either but worth a look.

this typically happens when the contant and acc power lines for the radio head unit are hooked up wrong to the always on power feed.

If you have an aftermarket amplifier it can happen if the remote wire isn't hooked up correctly as well

No aftermarket amp as far as I can see. And it is the stock head unit, hard to imagine those would be crossed.

Just pulled the head unit, no sign of an amp or that one has ever been installed. Original harness looks untampered with. This is just baffling.

rehook the stock tweeters..

I am thinking it might be something where the stock HU is detecting a wrong load or something and its causing it to act wonky.. it doesnt even really seem plausible but wtf else could it be?

I cut the ends off the wires like a dumbass so I don’t have the clips anymore.
