Bob Gibson effected my real life. He changed me as a person.

I was talking with my fellow little leaguers after a game. Everyone was saying who their favorite player was. I said Bob Gibson. One player said but he was a N-word. Another said the same thing. I told them why does that matter. Sure he was good and the best pitcher in baseball but I liked him because of his competitiveness. He pitched with passion. They said yeah but he’s still a n-word.

When I was surrounded by racists as a boy Gibson taught me to not judge a man by the color of his skin. Bob Gibson was just being who he was. He had no clue he changed some 7 year olds opinion that lasted a lifetime.

Well, now what?
We already needed to replace Molina, now it is an empty position. Is anyone worth a crap in FA or the farm system?
When will we know what Waino and Arenado are going to do?

The catching market sucks ass. It's pretty much just Contreras or Sean Murphy if you want to trade. I was really hoping the Cubs were going to make a deal with the Phillies with Happ for O'Hoppe, but they traded him to the Angels. At least you guys have Herrera pretty close.

Within 5 days of the end of the WS, if I'm not mistaken. The most recent articles I've read suggest he isn't going to do it, so he'll probably just leverage it for more money out of the Cardinals.

I know some people are pissed off about disappearing in the playoffs but players who can give you 30HR’s and 100 RBI’s are rare in baseball. He’s still at the top of his game on defense. Some of the plays he makes are truly amazing.

Even if they sweeten it by a couple of million a year or add a year or two, it’s still “cheap” compared to what the market is in baseball. We got $50 million in cash from the Rockies. You figure that in, it’s a “cheap” contract.

Why would you figure in the $50M from the Rockies? It's already been paid. They were paying a pretty sizeable chunk of Arenado's salary. It's not like they gave DeWitt a check.

Been saying they should trade for Sean Murphy all season. It's a no brainer, IMO.

But really, it's hard to care what they do. It's gonna be a half-measure and some pie in the sky bullshit. Next year they'll be a little older, a little more expensive and a little bit worse.

They don't have a holistic plan/approach apart from "don't suck and hope we get lucky..."

And that's what we'll see again next year.
