Run Defense SUCKS

All other bullshit aside, we only ran 51 plays to their 71.

We had the ball less than 10 minutes in the 2nd half.

IF we even make it to the playoffs with this horrid run D, we don't make it out of wildcard weekend if they don't do something drastic.

Oh, Spagnuolo was so awful and one dimensional, it made me want Sutton back. Where were his "adjustments"?

Houston, Packers and Tennessee are losses if Chiefs cannot figure it out. We knew the D was going to stink...Spags.
we didn't see the train coming that derailed Mahomes and the offense.

Yeah, there are a few idiots here who think Mahomes and the O should operate at an all-world level every single game and bail that AIDSabortion of a defense out...when in reality, every now and again, your defense needs to raise up and sound off like they got a pair. Honey Badger was the only defender that showed up on Sunday.

The defense is putrid. Pathetic.

The only reason the run defense 'wasn't' the story of the game is because the run defense has been pathetic every game going back to last year. It's not news...it's just going to cost us big this year. Bank on it.

I have absolutely no problems admitting when I'm wrong. But I'm not wrong about this. The only ways you will beat this team is by being able to keep up with this offense and have the ball at the end of the game or how we lost on Sunday, we have our #1 and #2 WR hurt, starting LT hurt, an interior lineman or 2 hurt and our stud QB hobbled and can't run away from the defense that is owning our shitty backups.

No team is going to beat us by running the ball. I don't care how many ypc the D gives up. Last year 3 of the top 4 offenses that led the league in ypc were below .500. That list looks like this

1. Panthers 5.1 ypc 7-9
2. Packers 5.0 ypc 6-9-1
3. Rams 4.9 ypc 13-3
4. Broncos 4.9 ypc 6-10

All but the Rams suck, so even if you can run for a high ypc that doesn't mean you will be good. Well some of you may be saying that you can't win a SB when you allow so many YPC. That's wrong too. Here are the bottom 5 defenses in YPC last year

28- Falcons 4.9 ypc 7-9
29 - Seahawks 4.9 ypc 12-4
30 - Patriots 4.9 ypc 11-5
31 - Chiefs 5.0 ypc 12-4
32 - Rams 5.1 ypc 13-3

Those teams combined for 55 wins and 25 losses. Both SB teams are on this and 3/4 teams that played in the conference championship games are on this list.

Even looking at the losses last year we didn't lose because teams kept Mahomes off the field. We scored 35.3 ppg last year and in our losses we averaged 32.9 PPG. Last year we averaged 10 drives a game and in our losses we averaged 11 drives per game, hell you can even take away the 15 drives we had against the Rams in that loss and we still average 10 drives a game in the other 4 losses.

Teams were not running it down our throats and burning time off the clock, while Mahomes sat on the bench. They were able to score at will against our D because our pass D was absolute trash.

This D did enough to win, but the offense did not. The offense was part of the reason why the D was on the field so long. Even when they made forced a stop or got a turnover the offense gave it right back and didn't even let the D rest.

You have to keep things into perspective man. It is one thing to give up high ypc when D doesnt know what is coming a whole other ball game when D knows a team is going to run and still can't stop it.

And stop w the injury excuse w the Colts game. Colts were just as banged up as us if not more so and they didnt have Luck who retired unexpectedingly.

Both were at fault. Saying it is just the offenses fault though is crazy. Chiefs dline got manhandled by the Colts Oline.

Yep. Double Kelce and our other wr could not win an individual match up. Hobbled Mahomes behind a bad O Line and it all adds up to a huge problem. Though I think the colts dee somewhat confused them as well. Think they expected them to play zone the vast majority of time and that did not seem to be the case.

If our offense scores a few points early, no way can the colts keep running the ball. Though the play calling on that 4th and 1 1/2 was really bad.

The play call was shit, for sure - I don't have a problem with a run, but it needed to be a QB sneak or a quick draw to the FB...of course, if the Oline could run block, that would help...

Did you guys really think that there would NEVER be a game in which Mahomes and the offense don't put up 25+?

The defense sucking is a pattern. The offense sucking is an aberration.

Exactly my point.

The offense will get its groove back. Hill, Watkins, Fisher, Wisnewski, etc. are all going to be in the lineup soon, and they'll be back to scoring as usual.

How is the defense going to improve?

They won’t.

They couldn’t stop the most predictable run offense since Herm ran Larry Johnson up the middle 400+ times in a season.

Unless Veach can trade for a stud LB, this run defense isn’t going to improve much.
