Not that it has a ton of impact, but what was the reason we kept Shurmur over Litton? I thought Litton's skillset (bigger arm, etc) was maybe a little better fit for this team. If Shurmur is the backup defacto, yeesh.
Moore looked like he had to put some mustard on the ball just to complete a 4-5 yard sideline route. If there is an immediate lid on the offense with a shit line, its going to be tough sledding. |

Honestly I have no interest in Eli. Too old and too immobile. Moore has actually done a decent job in the NFL before and he knows the playbook. I'd rather ride with him than give up a draft pick for Eli.
If he's gone for the year you have to go get someone. Given our offense and Reid I think someone like Mariota or Kaepernick would probably be a better fit, I think Andy would do a good job with both of them but I can't see either happening. Last edited by tk13; 10-18-2019 at 09:17 AM.. |

You're suggesting we mid-season try to find someone off the scrap heap & teach them the offense mid season. It's not comparable at all. In fact in the example of Nick Foles & the Eagles could be used to justfy sticking with your existing backup, not panicking & trading for some junk off the scrap heap. I guess the post you quoted may have been better stated "if your MVP QB goes down & you have a stiff as your existing backup your season is over"

Eli? Really?
Didn't you just watch what happens to an aging immobile QB? Nah. Keenum? We already have that guy, his name is Matt Moore. Seriously. The reason Moore didn't have a job is because teams determined he wasn't THE GUY. No shit, right? Well, there's about 5 guys in the NFL that ARE and about ten that teams REALLY HOPE MIGHT BE, and then there's a bunch of guys that aren't but are serviceable as long as you know what they are. Moore's totally a serviceable game manager type QB. We should know, we've been looking at them for forty years, more or less. If Mahomes is out for the rest of the season, we're not going to the Super Bowl. Eli doesn't change that. Keenum doesn't change that. Nobody you can trade for is going to change that. You play Moore, you activate Shurmur and you roll. Maybe you can re-sign Litton for third string (did someone even pick him up?) You don't mortgage the future on a retread. You play the cards you're dealt, you take the higher draft slot, and you re-load in the spring. |

The good news for Moore is that he's going to get snaps for a full week plus with the 1's. Not to mention, they should have sufficient time to get an Offensive package in place for him to ultimately be as effective as he can be, given his limitations as a QB. We'll be all right........

Holy crap. Someone's stoned. Eli?
Did I miss something? Is there a pressing need to try to clone the performance of Flacco on OUR team now? Who comes up with this garbage? The reason Matt Moore is our back-up is simple: Reid likes veteran guys at back-up with a resume of playing smart football in tough situations. Matt Moore is a veteran QB with 12 years of experience in the NFL. Yes, he's a career back-up, but he's played and won in the NFL. He's started multiple games with some success, including a win against the Chiefs throwing 3 TDs. And he's played in a playoff game. He lost, but he played well in that loss. And consider this: before last night Moore hadn't taken a single snap in practice for at least a month. In spite of that, he didn't turn the ball over, he did make a few plays, and he did throw a TD. Albeit on the craziest wheel route I've ever seen, but that's besides the point. As recently as 2016, Moore was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week, with a four TD performance against the Jets (I know, the Jets, but 4 TDs is 4 TDs). Here, just look at his pro career: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_M...ssional_career Matt Moore is a better QB than Eli. Stop smoking whatever you're smoking, it's making you stupid. |
