I'm the dude with the Zippy the Pinhead Chiefs stocking cap on. That must have been after the Colts playoff game win. And that picture of Todd Haley isn't Todd Haley. Nice likeness, but not the real guy.

I remember a true fan on CP posting "Gunther is back and he's pissed!!" when we rehired him, and someone fixing his post to "Gunther is back and he's pissed himself!!". Still makes me chuckle.

I'm certainly not defending Gunther Cunningham as head coach. That was a disaster and all. BUT...those teams in 99 and 2000 were ball soup. The death throes of the Marty era and the pre-Vermeil era combined into one team. And Grbac.

He had two defenses that ranked #1 in points allowed. These came in his 3rd (1995) and 5th (1997) season as a DC. KC was 2nd in yards in 95 and 11th in 97.

Those are the only times he's been top 10 in points allowed. He's ranked in the bottom half as much as the top half (8 times each). In 2009 he had the 32nd defense in yards and points and he's ranked in the bottom 10 twice as often as the the top 10.

There were no several top 3 defenses. Just two. Basically the entire NFL had his defense figured out after about 5 seasons and it was downhill from there.

I could understand this thinking in 2004 when KC rehired him, but not now. You gotta know what he is by now.

They're the same. People figured them out in about 5 years and then the OC's ran over them.

Few DC's are good and stay ahead of the curve. Most of them get figured out pretty quick.

Sadly yes, the NFL HAS figured out Spags as well. My expectations are not high.
