Lol, I love this sentence:
"In 2021, ESPN surveyed analytics staffers across the NFL and, when asked to name the top five teams in analytics, the Chiefs did not receive a single vote (16 teams did)."

Of course, they neglected to say next, "and none of those teams won the Super Bowl."

But whoever wrote that article is just another half-assed clickbaiter. "Butker is not a good kicker"? Okay. He only came into the season as the best kicker not named Justin Tucker (who also had a down year in 2022), and injury was the cause of his drop off in 2022, and I guess never mind that Butker was nails over the last four games of the season, over which he missed just one kick in 16 quarters.

For a guy that wants to talk about the math, he sure missed some big ones.

It also means that they probably aren't looking at/understanding the numbers they're given. For example, perhaps the Chiefs are better at 2pt conversions because they actually DON'T attempt them all the time. Maybe one can miss on a Day 1 pick if they clean up on Day 3.

The numbers are always talking; we just don't always understand what they're trying to say.

Exactly. How do you interpret various samples? Long-term, season, last four games or so.

i could be wrong, but to me it looks like just another weak attempt to cherry-pick stats that fit his narrative, rather than an actual attempt at discerning truths through statistical analysis. But I'm just a dumb freight dog, so what do I know?

This guy is talking like the Chiefs traded Tyreek and stumbled into a SB. Bad roster management? How is having a ridiculous amount of rookies starting or playing meaningful snaps not even mentioned if you're going to judge how they've built this roster?

I think they're not thrilled with Clark's contract, which we can all understand. They probably think OBJ makes too much money, which, again, many here would echo. Going that young that quickly is probably a bad idea if you don't have our staff of educators, honestly. Again, something that the numbers will struggle to quantify accurately.

The title alone screams "show me on the doll where analytics touched you"... and then his first example of "didn't need analytics to win" was not going for it on 4th and short and then missing a FG, when hindsight would clearly scream to believe in the analytics.

But every one of those things proved to be instrumental in this SB run, but they aren't saying that. It's like they can't actually see they were wrong even when proven wrong. They're just throwing their hands up and saying it's all because of Andy and Pat, but they're still right about everything else.

You didn't even need this many words.

The team has won 2 Super Bowls in 4 years. You don't get that with "bad" roster management. In fact, it's nearly impossible to do if you're even AVERAGE at roster management.
