I'm like 5 pounds away from what I'd consider my absolute ideal weight right now, but I love this thread. Something in here inspired me to look at a thread I started seven (!) years ago:

I practically leaped off the scale and clicked my heels when I saw that I was under 220 for what is probably the first time in three or four years. I plan on never coming close to that mark ever again.

I started that adventure at 260 or thereabouts. I weigh 150 pounds today. It's not about following the One True Plan™ forever, or anything; you just have to slowly train yourself to make better choices about what your body needs and learn how to forget your inevitable Bad Days along the way. I've lost 20 pounds since mid-2011 with zero dietary restrictions, and was apparently none the worse for the countless times I felt like all of my progress was lost and the next time I stepped on a scale it would shatter under my girth.

It's still pretty hard to believe I'm a "totally healthy young woman," as my doctor put it after my last physical/bloodwork, but it seems like the habits and information I learned while on a super extreme very low cal/carb diet for a few months in 2006 helped me mostly stay on track. It's so weird to look back and realize how much more physically capable I am than I was from 15-22.

Oh god, I very slowly went from wearing men's XXL shirts and size 40-42 (cargo) pants to a women's M and size 6/8 (28-29) (skinny) jeans. *brain explodes*

I've started this the last couple of years and never followed through. I did lose around 25 lbs last year, but have gained at least 15 of that back.

I'm starting dieting and exercising again so put me in. I'll post my weight in the morning.

I have an excellent method that's proven effective...I just gave up last year 20 lbs away from my goal...stopped working out, started eating whatever I wanted. . . Gained it all back.

If anyone wants info on Keto, let me know. I'm down to 198 this morning and was 295 a year ago, and 330 at my highest. GoChiefs also lost over 100 lbs doing a similar, if not the exact same diet. Not every diet is perfect for everyone, but I'm really into this one, and I think it has great results.

Well here are the basics.

Pretty much every type of meat is ok...unless it's been soaking in some kind of sugary marinade or it has been breaded. Most cheeses are fine, as are most green veggies. Also some nuts/seeds like almonds, pumpkin seeds/pepitas are ok.

Most of my meals are a mix of some kind of meat w/ some kind of green, and sometimes cheese is involved. That sounds really basic, but there is so much you can do with that.

Ground beef, for instance, has many things you can do with it. My favorite is to brown and add just a small amount of tomato, some jalapeno, and then some cheese on top w/ pepperoni and pretend I'm eating a pizza.

Another ground beef thing I do is ground beef w/ egg and bacon + hot sauce. To be honest, I sorta just open my fridge and grab what sounds good at the moment and toss it in a pan.

But for the last 53 weeks I've basically been eating pork chops about once a week, steak once a week, chicken twice or three times a week, tritip every couple weeks...and usually with Asparagus. I would say I ate Asparagus 150+ days last year. I just love it, it's my favorite veggie by far, and I love it just as much as I love my favorite meat (bacon).

Of course, eating this way is super cheap, I don't drop $10 at a drive thru for food, ever...and I always have leftovers and I don't have to buy lunch at work.

Lost 24 lbs in the last year or so. At 159 now, hope to stay under 160 and continue going to the gym 3-4 times a week and running about 10-12 miles a week.
