While it would be nice for extreme temp games, the owners can pay for it. Football should be played in the elements. |

There's pro's and con's on both sides of a "dome" question.
Here's what Wiki says about the Arrowhead renovation in 2007: On August 15, 2007, the Chiefs announced final plans for the renovated Arrowhead Stadium, which would cost $375 million. The cost to the city was reduced by $50 million thanks to an additional payment by the Hunt family, which originally had intended to donate $75 million. The renovated stadium features the Chiefs Hall of Honor, a tribute to Lamar Hunt, and "horizon level" seating in which luxury suite owners are now sitting outdoors. Reconstruction for the stadiums started on October 3, 2007. Renovation was completed in 2010. In 2007, Jackson County taxpayers were approached with two separate ballot choices. One was for general renovation of both Arrowhead and Kauffman Stadiums. That was passed. There was a second ballot initiative to enclose Arrowhead with this funky tent like covering. That would allow for Final Fours and potentially a Super Bowl to be played in KC. That was voted down. At the time, the general consensus of voters were two fold. One, they didn't want to pay for two separate ballot initiatives at the same time to subsidize a billionaire. They said OK to the general improvements, which were sorely needed at the time. In Arrowhead that included updating electrical, plumbing, adding more restrooms for women, better concessions, widening concourses, etc. They did not vote for the "tent." Part of the reason the 'tent' was shot down was a lot of Chiefs fans felt like the open air conditions give the Chiefs a marked advantage in the AFC West. When California teams...and even Denver come to Arrowhead in December, they freeze their asses off and the Chiefs usually do well. There's been some examples where that was not the case, like the Kicker Whose Name Will Not Be Mentioned game where we lost to a dome team, and the year the Dolphins came in and kicked our ass on a zero degree weather day. I see both sides. I understand the perceived competitive advantage in cold weather, and also believe that if the Hunt Family wanted a dome, they could pay for it. As an aging STH, it would be nice to not freeze my ASS off for four games in December when I'm paying $180 a ticket. I went to a December game vs. St. Louis Rams once, and it was really nice to be able to walk in to a warm arena, take my coat off and enjoy the game. Oh, and forget that noise about "Let's build a retractable roof in Johnson County." Everybody knows JoCo is too Goddamn Cheap to build ANYTHING of greater community good. They'd rather leech off Jackson County then complain about the facilities. |

Would a 'cover' get KC to host a Super Bowl. It could still be warmer than New York

Lamar was essentially gifted a superbowl prior to passing away IF the rolling roof was passed. It wasn't so no Super Bowl.
