Jeremiah Trotter thinks Andy Reid got out-coached in a lot of games

Jeremiah Trotter played a total of seven seasons for Andy Reid in three different stints with the Eagles. And he thinks he lost a lot of games because Reid got out-coached.

“If it came down to both teams were even, talent-wise,*I think the opponent’s team would win if it came down to coaching,” Trotter said on 97.5 The Fanatic, via Philly.com. “Andy Reid got out-coached in a lot of games, man, a lot of big games,” Trotter continued. “Time outs, running the football, you know.”

Trotter said Reid’s offensive style made things different for the defense and the late defensive coordinator Jim Johnson, who ran the defense in Philadelphia until his death in 2008.

“As a defense, we understood we passed the ball too much. You know, there’s times we’re sitting over there like, ‘Man, listen. Just get us a couple of first downs so we can get a break.’ And I’m sure it frustrated Jim Johnson also,” Trotter said

Still, Trotter acknowledges that he won a lot of games during his time with Reid, and he says he would have given Reid a 7.5 or 8 on a scale of 1-10. I shudder to think what he’d say about a coach who was a 1.

Good coaches don't get out coached in a lot of games.

Its the def coordinator. The theme is the same. It seems like everytime we have a big lead, the defense lays off. The message is simple, you give Roethlisberger time, he is gonna pick you apart and then Sutton doesn’t adjust. So really Im not surprised.

Pitt was impressive in there adjustments regardless. We'd have gone into a shell down 3td in the 1st.

Reid is overrated as a head coach. He really needs to be an offensive coordinator with a Head Coach over him to keep him from his bad habits.

Get a lead, go into a shell. Tells his defensive coordinator to be ultra conservative.

Reid trademarks.

It's both. The rigged game plays toward those who understand theater. Andy thinks being a wallflower gets him love by the league...

That safety was almost the turning point in the game. A completely bone-headed decision. You can always count on Reid for one of those in a critical situation. Going away from what's working, taking an unnecessary risk, playing to our weaknesses like running it up the gut in that situation. Just stupid.

Once, just once, it would be nice to see Andy stand up to the officials for his players. Get tossed, get a $15K fine, throw a water jug on the field, but draw attention to the league's ****ing of his team and, hopefully, after all the standard "shock" from the media, somebody might say, "well, he's right."

I'll say again, a different union should approach the NFL defensive player, and like businesses that have to deal with multiple unions, let the NFL deal with a union that might take-up the cause of how DPI is so easily called, but an OPI (which we see push-offs all the time) is more rare than Gaz being the lead in a Orgy movie.

Either way, the Chiefs have to stand up to the league and the officials, they won't ever treat them fairly just because it's the right thing to do. You know, small market team and all...

Heck, a QB sneak would have been much better playcall if you are just trying to get a yard or two. Going backwards 5 yards to hand off the ball in the end zone is begging for trouble.
