Zack Snyder to direct next Superman film

http://heatvision.hollywoodreporter....medium=twitter

Nolan and Zack Snyder, definitely an interesting team. There are already rumors now that Zod is going to be the villain.

I have to say I'm excited that it "appears" they aren't going to go totally out of left field and do something stupid and out of character for Superman.

yes, and it's kind of a tear jerker in a way too in an awesome way.

My thoughts about Man of Steel

Although there are a few light moments (that all worked for me), it isn't even in the same galaxy as the Donner films in terms of style. It was much more of a grown-up movie than I expected. People die, it's very science fiction at times (Krypton is freaking alien, it took a bit to get used to) and while the narrative jumps all over the place, nothing ever really felt rushed. It just felt...right.

And this may be the most origin-y origin story I've ever seen.
Spoiler!
I can't wait to see where the franchise goes from here.

I also can't wait to see it again in a few days.
I am, admittedly, not a Superman fanboy. It is certainly better than any previous Superman movie. It was not as good as TDK, but it was 100 times better than The Green Lantern. DC has a long way to go before they get close to Marvel as far as establishing their Cinematic Universe. I would rank it in the second half of a Superhero/Comic Book Top 10 Movie list.

I would love to see Wonder Woman, Flash, and The Green Arrow stand alone movies so they could join Batman and Superman in a Justice League movie. Ryan Reynolds ruined Green Lantern for me, so I don't really want to see him play the part ever again. But I think DC doesn't believe they have time to make more stand alone movies, and will rush Man of Steel 2 into production, and then make a Justice League movie with only Superman and Batman and Green Lantern having had stand alone movies. This is why Marvel will always have a better Cinematic Universe.

My Top 10:

1. The Avengers (Superhero)
2. X-Men: First Class (Superhero)
3. The Dark Knight (Superhero) - Heath Ledger gives the best performance ever in any Superhero/Comic Book movie.
4. Watchmen (Superhero)
5. Iron Man (Superhero)
6. The Dark Knight Rises (Superhero)
7. V for Vendetta (Comic Book)
8. Man of Steel (Superhero)
9. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Comic Book)
10. Scott Pilgrim Versus The World (Comic Book)

I thought the 3D was effective and worked well, as I did with "Star Trek Into Darkness" and "Avengers". But I'm also in a unique situation as I saw all three on my full size IMAX screen. And we only charge .50 more for IMAX 3D than our regular 3D (whereas we charge $4.50 more for our regular 3D than our regular 2D).

Good to hear. That sounds like what I've been expecting (professional reviews be damned).

I'm seeing it Sunday morning with the boys.

That's about what I think, although I'd rate it a little higher. I think it's this franchise's Batman Begins. I'm also not as big an Avengers fan, so on any list TDK is #1 with a bullet for me. MoS would make my top 5.\

I want to restate something, though. People who haven't seen it, don't expect a lot of geeful "that was awesome!" moments. That's what I was alluding to when I said it was subdued. I liked it so I'm not calling it a weakness, though maybe that impression will change with repeat viewings, but don't go in expecting the feel good movie of the year. There's some of that, there are some legit holy crap moments, and the audience I saw it with did clap at the end, which is usually a good sign, but it's mostly just...

You have to have a secret identity in a superhero film, HAVE TO. It can just be played out better. Personally, I love the Clark Kent identity and would love to hear about more of his childhood, kind of like how you learn about Bruce Wayne and how Batman Begins goes into depth as his identity before The Batman. I have a feeling this movie isn't going to focus as much time on that however.

You should be worried. These superhero action movies have been killing it in the review department. This is a HORRIBLE review for this type of movie, especially considering all of the hype. Usually, the more hyped a movie is, the better RT it gets, by at least some margin. I think some of you are in denial. I'm going to go see it, I'm sure I'll be entertained, but I'm not expecting TDK or TDKR

I don't know why everyone is saying that it is getting horrible reviews on RT. The audiences have it at 82% and that is the one I usually pay attention to. I would say the critics can suck it.

RT has "Now You See Me" at 48%. I enjoyed it, and its exit poll has it at 75%.

They have "Oz" at 60%. I couldn't stand it.

They have "Oblivion" at 55%. I enjoyed it.

The critical consensus doesn't always mean everything. At the end of the day, even if 100 critics out of 100 hate something, it's still only the opinion of 100 people.

My main problem with Superman to begin with is the ONLY way ANYONE (other than another Kryptonian like Zog or whatever) has any chance against him is with Kyptonite. No human in a suit is going to get it done.

He's too perfect, too unbeatable. Unless, you know, WHOA GREEN ROCK!! or whatever. For all those reasons I think Superman is boring.

But I'll see this movie, as I do most every superhero movie. Probably Sunday morning/early afternoon.

Even then Superman is just at human limitations and could still kick Batman's a$$. He doesn't have a chance.

Also if someone asks me if they should stay after the credits. My answer wouldn't be in spoiler tags so..yeah. Think about that for a second.
