Life Help with VPN

I am overseas and needing to do some online banking..... I have purchased a VPN to (hopefully) reduce risk while using cafe internet wifi connections. The difficulty I am having is that I am seemingly unable to access certain sites while using the VPN.

Any insight would be appreciated.

There is really none to be had.

A lot of banks/government entities/Netflix/Amazon Video block IP ranges that are used as VPNs. You can typically see the front page but cannot actually use the site effectively.

I've used several VPN services and have yet to find one that works with my bank/Netflix.

Using an open cafe connection for banking is really not a good idea. It's not about VPN, it's about the fact that all the other people using the cafe WiFi can see your connection.

When you fire up your vpn, have you done a whois to see where your IP is sourced? If you're getting an Asian IP, yeah you'll have a hard time. And like mentioned earlier, a lot of the VPN services are going to be blacklisted too.

You would be money ahead to have some sort of VDI back home that after nailing up your VPN, you would then use to access domestic sites like your bank, etc.

Dude no.......... Cheap ass VPN services can be brute forced by shitty hackers. Putting yourself on a public AP is really dumb.
