Shady McCoy signs with Bucs

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...rs/5550962002/

Quote:
Running back LeSean McCoy agreed to a one-year deal with the team on Thursday, his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, confirmed to ESPN.

McCoy, 32, started nine games for the Kansas City Chiefs last year and ran for 465 yards and four touchdowns on 101 carries. But after Damien Williams seized the lead role toward the end of the season and into the playoffs, McCoy was a healthy scratch for the Chiefs' Super Bowl LIV victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

In Tampa, the six-time Pro Bowl selection joins quarterback Tom Brady and tight end Rob Gronkowski as the latest veteran to come on board coach Bruce Arians' team.

He wasn’t great, though. He may not have broken an arm tackle all season, and his burst paled in comparison to Damien.

If his old buddy Reid gave up on him, you know he's done.

Still got a ring though - good for him.

Loved the way he ran the ball. Hated the way he handled the ball.

But let's skip that part for a second.

He's going to be part of a passing attack that could be one of the better ones in the NFC. And he's a very good route runner and receiver.

Hell, look at his stats from 2019. Extrapolate for a full season, even splitting snaps with every other back on the roster, he would've finished the season with nearly 900 yds rushing.
What are you talking about? According to the Chiefs website, Damien Williams had 4.5 yards per carry and McCoy had 4.6.

IMO, it was because he wouldn't stop fumbling. I don't think Reid would ever throw a player under the bus so that's why not much was said about this.

Costly fumbles negates most of this.

What are you talking about? Do you not remember how the first third of the season went?

Maybe this will refresh your memory:
https://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/show...amien+williams

The situation through the first 6 or 7 games was this: Damien was averaging less than 3 yards/carry, meanwhile Shady was averaging more than 5 yds.carry. These gamelogs make it fairly obvious:

Damien:
https://www.pro-football-reference.c.../gamelog/2019/

McCoy:
https://www.pro-football-reference.c.../gamelog/2019/

Any of this ringing a bell?

Also, lest we forget, Shady tweaked his ankle in week 3, and yet still averaged 5+ yds/carry until week 9 (MINN) and he only carried the ball 3 times in that game, so we really can't say what his production could've been. Over the same period, behind the same exact line, Damien carried 48 times for, wait for it, 100 yds. That's a whopping 2.1 yds/carry. Over 6 WEEKS.

Shady averaged 5.2 yds/carry. And had already gained 362+ yards.

Remember now?
