Would you take Nagy back as OC?

Assuming this is the year Bieniemy finally gets a HC gig, would you support bring Nagy back into the fold?

Yes or no.

Felt like we KC fans got one last sendoff of the Alex/90's futility in that playoff game. It checked every box.

Big first half lead. Star player hurt in the first half. Terrible referee call with massive implications. Missed field goal. QB turns a potential turnover into a self pass touchdown. Questionable playcalling. Abysmal defensive collapse, and our QB turning into a game-manager when we needed throws downfield to win it.

What a terrible game.
Not his fault, Alex has his well-known limitations. However, Nagy got what he could out of him that season, and more.

Yeah, there were multiple times when Alex checked down when something was open downfield. If I’m not mistaken he was very pushy about making Alex throw downfield. Something Pederson didn’t do. And he and Kafka certainly deserve a ton of credit for handling mahomes. Let’s not forget he was a bit of a mess with his mechanics early on.

If I cared enough to find it, I'd look for a local radio bit I heard over the holidays. It was basically Fields giving an interview late in the season where he talked about being more comfortable making reads when moving the pocket (it may have been red zone specific I don't remember) and how his numbers supported that.

Then they played Nagy being asked about Fields comment and he said something along the lines of "yeah I guess we could do a little more of that".

Then they played an interview from Trubisky saying nearly word for word what Fields had said about playing to his strengths from 2 years ago. Like you could've interchanged Fields and Trubisky giving the same response.

Their point was to draw into question Nagy's communication and what a cluster **** the QB room is. It was like being asked by a reporter was the first time hearing these things from his QBs.

I'm not saying I would definitely do it, but if PM endorsed the idea, sure - why not? Nagy can be a HC in this league and a relatively decent one. If you asked me who probably has more career wins as a head coach in the league 10 years from now, I'd say it's likely Nagy.

The guy's not an idiot just because he couldn't fix Mitch Trubisky.
Yeah, to reaffirm this, I don't think Nagy's failures were solely on him and a majority of it can be placed on Pace.

Nagy had Trubisky shoved down his throat and had an above average season from him when he was in his first year as HC in 2018. Trubisky then went back to being Trubisky and the defense started to age out of its prime. And if we're going to be completely honest, giving that much trade capital for a LB (Mack) is a terrible trade regardless of how the picks turn out for the Raiders.

I'm not saying Nagy's a great coach, but he's not Brad Childress or Pat Shurmur either.

The QB room being a cluster **** sounds more like a Pace problem, though.

He brought in Foles to basically be a starter or to push Trubisky and he failed to do that.

Then, they brought in Dalton to be a placeholder for Fields while Foles still had a cap hit of nearly $7 million this season.

Pace ran a clown show.

Let's not forget the 2018 Bears defense was once of the best from that decade.

First in points against (283), forced turnovers (36), interceptions (27), yards gained/pass (5.3), total rushing yards (1,280) and touchdowns allowed (5), and turnover percentage (19.5). They ranked third in total yards against (4,795).

Nagy doesn't wear Trubisky but once that defense started falling off, they were never above .500.

If we’re being realistic, Nagy was going to get fired this season barring a miracle due to drafting Fields. I think Pace did that as a Hail Mary to try to save his own job.

Not for OC. Rather Reid promote his next guy...which is likely Kafka. However, if he's willing and we don't have anyone as the next man up, Nagy could be the QB Coach again. It basically puts him in the BrainTrust, but doesn't block the development of the next guy. As someone said above, it would put him in a Childress-type role.

I'm of the same thoughts as DJ made known here. I really don't blame Nagy for everything that happened in Chicago and he's a solid coach. I'm not going to say no to having him back because of that situation.

The guy has made more chicken salad out of chicken shit than most with the QBs he had of late. I'd be curious what he could do with Mahomes, to be honest.

If it's Kafka instead, so be it. I'm not going to shed one tear either way.
