Entire team was battling the flu that week. We gave up 228 passing yards on a bad day. Hardly anything to get excited about.

Damien Williams

Kelvin Benjamin
Damarcus Robinson
Conley

You can mix man to man into zone concepts, and zone blitz packages. But you are not (And we are not) going to play straight man to man.
I'm not worried about a single player you mentioned, outside of Hill. We've done a great job on Kelce, Gilmore held Watkins to 18 yards in the previous meeting, and Williams is not going to hurt us with any explosive plays. Hill will be doubled.

I don't think you understand that you're a fan making something out of nothing. That kind of psychology really doesn't exist with NFL players, only fans.

Kareem Hunt was a good back but he was a beneficiary of Andy Reid's scheme. It's really Andy Reid's scheme that is tough on the Patriots. The way Andy Reid uses his running backs pushes a defense like the Patriots.

Williams isn't as good as Hunt but he's definitely good enough.

And they don't need to replicate the game plan from week six. From week to week, the Chiefs have seen different offensive players have big games. Hill/Kelce/Watkins/Williams/et al. This is due to their individual talent as well as having Mahomes under center and Reid calling plays. The Chiefs didn't need to throw a TD to curb stomp the Colts. They didn't need Williams to have a break-away reception to curb stomp the Colts. Reid will crush the Pats defense if they go light. Williams is only one tool in Reid's toolbox. Hill and Watkins are deadly, big play options in the run game. If Williams does what he did against the Colts, the rest of the offense should be in good shape. The real question for the Chiefs will be how the defense performs. Recent changes in the secondary are gelling and the defense seems to be improving over the last few weeks. Arrowhead will be rocking and that's not going to help the Pats' offense. Especially the o-line on passing downs. Brady might need to wear two flak jackets. Should be a great game.
I don't think hunt is better. But Williams fills a gap that actually helps our offense in a way we needed. He's effective enough as a pure runner and very effective when defenses give him too much. But he adds a big element to our short passing game which we needed. We had some very very slight hiccups for a few games but Williams and Watkins helped us develop some quick and short passing options. We may be known for our chunk plays. But we surgically carved indy up with a quick offense.

Oh the flu, got it.

What about giving up 265 and 3 TDs to Ryan Tannehill, with all-world Kenny Stills dropping 135?

They were all suffering from LIGMA.

There's probably a solid reason Blake Bortles dropped 376 for 4 TDs too.

Hold on. Reid needs players to make his scheme to work. Same with Bill and his defense. We faced him when he was in Philly when he had Westbrook and Shady and they didn't do much. Charles played well vs us.

Hunt is a different player and on a different level than Williams in the passing game. As a runner Williams seems stronger between the tackles but I would need to watch more film.

Is he good enough? Depends on what your expectations are.

Patriots fans sound like every other fan from opposing teams this season. It’s just the same thing over and over. They think they have some secret to stopping the offense. “Oh we will double Hill no problem and everything else will be fine.” “We can stop the big play better.” “We will just blitz Mahomes and make him uncomfortable.” It’s just wishful thinking.

The Colts focused on stopping the big play and keeping everyone in front and it mostly worked. But what people don’t understand, is unlike other teams, when you “slow” the Chiefs or stop the big play, they still go 15 yards at a time where other teams go 5-7 yards at a time. Sure enough the Chiefs just went 10-15 yards at a time. If you go the route of doubling one guy and risking the others beating you, the others will just shred the defense. If you blitz him then you will get exploited in the vacated areas.

50-60 of those yards came on a play where we had Gronk out there as a safety.

Sorry, but he is not the threat that Hunt was. Not even close.
Hunt was a running back who caught a few checkdowns but he wasn't really a receiving back. They use Williams often wide and in the slot. He creates another legit passing option, which helps create the quick passing game to counter defenses that for a few games tried to play two deep and keep everything underneath. He's also a much more effective weapon for the screen game, which reid is one of the best in the league at.

41 year old dying arm won’t make it in the freezing cold and Bill knows that. That’s why they ran the ball a ton and had Brady throw 5 yard checkdown all game last weekend. That was in 26 degree weather.

Mahomes first start was in 17 degree weather...

Good luck keeping up old man.

The best part of it is the OGBED/WhamFan was here before the week 6 game with all the same smack. "The Chiefs won't score 20". . They scored FORTY. But this time is different!
