Late night bullshit: Credit where it's due for this Chiefs team.

I get all the concerns Chiefs fans have with this team right now, especially considering the PTSD we all have from the AFCCG. The run defense, the corners, the run game, I get it all. I am skeptical this team has what it takes to stop the Pats.

But look at the first six weeks of this season. Hell, the first seven.

@JAX, albeit against Minshew
@OAK, when we were their Super Bowl
BAL, the 3rd best team in the AFC
@DET, a pretty damn good team who played their best

Now we're about to host a fairly stout Indianapolis team, followed by a nightmare matchup against Deshaun Watson and the Texans. Then it's a short week to play in Denver, though obviously we should spank that team.

So I'm not interested in the scarecrows the Pats have played at QB so far; if the Chiefs emerge from this opening stretch at 7-0, then they are the favorite. This is the worst stretch we'll see on this schedule until December, and the Chiefs have so far gone 4-0 with three of those tough games on the road.

Only the Detroit game was even close.

We all know this team for real. But going 6-0 (and almost certainly 7-0) makes this team the AFC favorite, whether we beat out New England's cake schedule for the 1 seed or not.

Texans aren't a matchup nightmare.

They are a ****in' joke.

BoB doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground.

Watson might keep it within 2 scores but lol

Being the "favorite" is legacy thinking, IMO ...

I used to experience that special thrill of legitimacy when people would talk about the Chiefs without using the International Pointer-Finger-In-Mouth Gag Sign.

Being somebody's "favorite" doesn't mean jack. Beating the team in front of you then rinsing and repeating until you win the Lombardi is the only thing that matters.

This season is all about the end-game. It isn't about the regular season and the attention that the Chiefs might generate along the way.

I actually think we're better than the Texans, as in our roster is better than theirs. And I have no faith in that Texans defense against Mahomes, especially since I bet Hill will be back by then.

Buuuuuuuuuuutttttt how are we going to stop Watson --> Hopkins/Fuller, again?

I think that's a baaaaad matchup for us.

Our SoS is 11th/16 afc teams, -1.1 pts per game worse than an avg team. So no, our schedule hasn’t been hard at all.

Wishkins is overrated as hell. Always has been and probably always will be.

Hopkins and Watt are the only reasons that team hasn't already been sold to a Mexican drug lord.

Watt's best days ended 2 years ago ... and you can't wish one to Hopkins when you're lying facedown in the grass.

I think so.

Their roster looks pretty boss top to bottom, aside from their QB position.

I'm not convinced the Colts can play man.

If that's true, they should surrender before somebody gets hurt.

Please don’t take them for granted.

Their run game alone spots them the Time of Possession battle.

This isnt college basketball. Every team weve played so far has been undefeated going into the game against us and 3 of our 4 wins could win their division this year.

I don't have PTSD from the AFCCG, that was the best game I ever witnessed as a Chiefs fan and we were a coin flip away from the Superbowl (or a dee ford penalty away).

If we're giving credit, I'll start with Bashaud Breeland. I just finished watching the Lions game using coach's film, and he had himself a really solid day with a couple passes nicely defensed.

As did Chris Jones, who looked like he not only got himself a sack, but played the run fairly well for the most part.

Tyrann Mathieu had an up and down day, but it was Tyrann and Clark that stopped that Kerryon attempt at the 1-yard line that ended with Breeland picking up the fumble and running it back for a Chiefs TD. The tally sheet has X. Williams making the stop, but the film shows quite clearly that it was Tyrann and Clark that make the play. Williams cleans it up.

I believe it's coach Daly that is in charge of the DL, and if that's the case, he deserves some credit for putting together some nice packages. Though there were some obvious breakdowns that allowed some big yardage on the ground. However, you can quite clearly see that he's making adjustments throughout the game and some of those adjustments worked almost perfectly. X. Williams needs to stay in his lane though.

The biggest weakness in the front-seven was the LB play. We need them to get a lot more aggressive. Hesitation LBs created the worst breakdowns, so far as I could tell.

However, I think that the players are buying into Spag's scheme. They looked more comfortable, even just from the Ravens game that I re-watched Saturday, to the Lions game. There's still a lot of communication issues, and too many times when guys look unsure about what their assignment is. But less than the previous game.

I think we'll get by Indy just by taking advantage of their injury-ridden defense. Houston should be a real trial of fire. Obviously Watson is going to be the best QB the Chiefs see this season so far.

I understand your concerns, Mr. Direckshun. I simply don't share them ...

We are a far, far better team than the Colts.

If we eliminate the mistakes (namely turnovers and penalties), this will not be close.

Frankly, I'm very glad we had to fight for a last-minute victory over the Lions. I personally believe we needed something like that in order to re-engage the humility sequence. This Sunday, you'll see a team that takes nothing for granted and plays every snap like it means something special ... and it won't be the Colts.

Watson is good, but not as good as Rodgers, Brady and Rivers.
