Never a doubt the guy really knows defense. I'll hold off on being too optimistic given his track record. I do think he will definitely at least get us to average and that's really all we need.

A head coach loyal to a fault fired his long time DC. A franchise loyal to a fault got us out of a few bad contracts for guys built for the wrong defense. The front office decided that rather than build around 2-3 pieces, we were going to overhaul the entire defense all offseason.

I would say that's really damn bold. And guess what. We ain't done yet. We probably have 1-2 big moves and a few small moves we will likely make when all is said and done.

Houston wasn’t worth his 2019 salary.

Hardly anyone wanted Ford extended, so a trade wasn’t a bad idea.

And they now have the salary cap space to bring in players via trade or FAs after the draft.

Personally, I’d rather use the scheme known to stop the run and apply pressure. The rebuild started last year, before even switching.

I'm cautiously optimistic. He has outstanding assistant coaches and I love that we have one guy who's seen some shit in college and the sec, and another assistant who knows the innovative defense that stifled us last year.
