The excuse about Rivers not having any talent around him is crap.
Yup. Rivers is a choker. Pure and simple.

Veach was going to give Earl a 1 year deal last offseason before Baltimore stepped in. Not sure why the Cowboys narrative is still around. They didn’t even want to outbid us last offseason.

It’ll be interesting to see where he ends up.

Minnesota Culpepper was a franchise QB.

I guess so. And even at his age, Cunningham probably was too. So now we have that one, Green Bay, Indy, and possibly Dallas. That’s 4 in all that time. Now find one that has 3 in a row. That’s my point - the chances of Indy coming into a 3rd franchise QB this soon is very improbable.

They played last year without a franchise QB. Rivers isn’t their “franchise QB”, but he’s good and knows the system.

He’s not good enough to beat us in the playoffs, but overall he’s good.

I still remember the year the Chargers were ranked #1 in both offense, and defense(or at least during a point of the season), and they still didn’t do anything

They finished 2010 as the #1 ranked offense and defense. First and only time in NFL history that has ever happened. They didn't even make the playoffs

That’s what I mean. Saying the Colts will be formidable IF they find a franchise QB is kind of like one of us saying we will be rich IF we win the lottery. Finding a franchise QB is really really hard. Finding them way the Colts have recently is almost completely unheard of. I don’t know who the Chiefs’ big rival will be but I’d be willing to bet it’s not the Colts.

I mean, the Colts have as good of a chance as anyone. No chance.

Honestly, I don’t see a true rival in the AFC right now. No one else has a comparable situation at QB, coach, supporting cast, GM, and coaching staff.

Every other team has a question mark at one or more of those.

Honestly, I think it’s a team like the Steelers that will come closest because they have a truly great defense. They can’t stop Mahomes but they can at least slow him down like the way SF did. I would say Houston but good grief they are run by a clown.

Otherwise I agree with you. I don’t see anybody in the AFC that is “formidable”.

True. Steelers are kinda in that Colts position though too. They’ll probably stay good enough to not get their pick at QB. If they miss on replacing Ben, that great cast won’t win shit.

Agreed on the Texans. The Chiefs drafting Mahomes ruined what Watson’s career could’ve been in this system with this coach.

and even if you get a top 10 pick, there’s a good chance it won’t even work out like you hope it will.

The reason I said the Steelers is that I just don’t think our big rival is going to be someone that can “run with” us. It’s going to be somebody that has a counter. Even without Ben, the Steelers have an elite defense. Even a mid-level QB there could make them a contender - see SF.

I made the backhanded comment earlier but I really look at the Colts and see a team with few weaknesses but also nothing that particularly stands out. They kind of look like the 1995 Chiefs to be honest.
