Cataracts
Ugh.
Had my eyes checked and have a cataract in my right eye that requires surgery. My left has a cataract but it's minor. My doc said that people over 60 have cataracts 90% of the time. It's just a matter of severity. Anyone had this surgery? I dread sharp objects cutting into my eyeball, no matter how safe it is. |

Most eye drs are scam artists. Your eyes are fine.

Incredibly routine surgery these days. I know many who had it and no issues. Most common side effect is an infection.
I had two retinal detachment surgeries; right eye done in June 2002 and the left eye done May 2004. I have scleral buckles around both eyes. Aside from a lot of floaters, it saved my eyesight. You will be good.

Had the procedure done about 4 years ago. No pain at all. Plus, it’s not like you see anything either. There is a bright fuzzy light that the doc says to look at……10 seconds later, it’s over. Gotta put drops in your eyes for a few days, but that’s it. Very easy to tolerate.

My wife had it. No problem, they even put in a contact to help reading. She was told the new is better than ever and it will never need to be done again.

You really shouldn’t worry.
Ptetty easy surgery. Takes 5 minutes. You can probably work that same day The longest party is getting set up and waiting for the doc Laser surgery is a lot worse I did have to have YAG surgery on both eyes after. Talking about eye surgery. I had a retinal detachment 3 1/2 years ago. Oil bubble and had to get it taken it. Hour surgery and awake. I’m like how on earth with me being awake with them putting things on my eye and be awake? They put a nerve block in

Ive had it
biggest issue for me is after surgery I have developed dry eye....really bad. They say it had zero to do with the surgery but i don't buy it I have to wear readers so not different than before, i do see colors far clearer, one issue is if im doing a lot of computer or reading my eyes take forever to refocus on distance. if i had it to do over Id have waited.

Never had cataracts but had laser eye surgery (routine lasik surgery). I'd been through quite a few major skiing-related surgeries so I thought it would be no biggie. Freaked me the eff out though, super uncomfortable pressing feeling on my eyeballs. Just lasted briefly though and ended up being one of the best things to ever happen to me. 20 years later I still have eyes like a hawk, and my far away vision was terrible before lasik.

My 82 year old mom had them, wore glasses since she was in high school, the surgery corrected her vision and she doesn't need glasses anymore either... Amazing.

My older brother just had it done last month. He said his eyes were lightly bandaged for the drive home, and that he could still road signs better than he could on the drive in to the surgery. He's very happy with it.

I just had my 1 year followup after surgery. If you have the means, I recommend upgraded lenses.

No worries. It takes 5 minutes, you will have no discomfort. The worst part is thinking about it beforehand. The end result is a total win.
