Dak is getting paid

Haven’t seen details yet. Just that they’ve agreed on a contract.

Once the broadcast deals are signed by the NFL and each network, the NFL receives their contractually obligated revenue, regardless of how much advertisers pay each network for each game.

In short, the Broadcast deals and the network's ad revenues are mutually exclusive.

There will be no pay-per-view for broadcast TV. As I've stated probably one hundred times or more, NO program or series can match the 20+ million eyeballs on Prime Time NFL games, let alone, compete with the millions upon millions that watch games every Sunday.

The NFL provides the highest number of eyeball per program, which is why advertisers pay a premium for ad spots during NFL games.

Almost every starting veteran QB in the league makes over 30 million dollars, every team budgets this in their salary cap. It isn't the killer some are making it out to be.

I see your point, and I don't disagree, but I have to think there is a tipping point somewhere.

Then you would be wrong.

In these days of Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Disney+, Paramount Plus, The Peacock, Discovery+ and many others, drawing 10-25 million viewers per game is a staggering number and there are zero indications that any Network TV Series, Scripted or Unscripted, is going to match, let alone top, the NFL's ratings.

Once legalized sports gambling is in effect, the NFL's ratings will skyrocket, as will their revenue stream and salary cap.

No, I mean a tipping point as in passing some of that expense onto the consumer. I have no doubts that the NFL is going to make money nonstop. But greed gets in the way of almost everything. I could easily see team based subscriptions becoming a thing. Hell, if a 3 hour UFC fight can sell for $50, why can't a season pass for your favorite team sell for a few hundred? Thats my only real question.

Broadcast TV (CBS, ABC, Fox & NBC) are FREE. At no point will any of them require you to pay to watch the NFL locally.

You're struggling to understand this concept. Network TV shows exist to earn money. Period, end of story. The NFL is the most popular sport in America and by a HUGE margin. Every single year, the NFL equates for at least 45 of the Top 50 viewed programs.

As long as networks are willing to shell out billions of dollars for Broadcast Rights Fees, the NFL will be KING. And there is absolutely NO signs that will change any time soon.

Then your "only real question" should be about the NFL's Sunday Ticket, not broadcast fees.

Direct TV pays the NFL $1.5 BILLION for the broadcast rights to Sunday Ticket, which charges anywhere from $99 dollars (for students only) to $389 dollars (Sunday Ticket Max). Direct TV has those rights until the end of the 2022 season.

Who will have those rights beyond 2022 is still in question.

No, I'm not struggling to understand your concept. But I'm not going to argue with you, I simply asked a question that I can see spiraling down a completely different rabbit hole than I originally intended to ask about.

No worries boss.

It's not a "concept". This is reality. This is exactly how the NFL has been operating for decades.

The overwhelming majority of their revenue stream is from their Broadcast Rights agreements. For ****'s Sake, there were barely any fans in the stands in 2020, yet the Salary Cap decreased by a mere 7%!

The NFL is all about earning money, so there's not a chance in hell that they charge to watch local broadcasts.

And there's nothing to "argue". Either you understand it or you don't.

You're a very knowledgeable person, and you know more about this side of things than anybody else on here. But if you're going to call it a concept, then say its not a "concept" like thats my own misguided use of the word, thats just a bitch move.

Fine, the NFL will be free for eternity on network TV, whatever man. If I understood everything, I wouldn't have asked the ****ing question, now would have I? My question is simply about how humans are greedy by nature and if consumers will eventually pick up more of the tab as the NFL machine gets bigger. Thats all I was asking.

Dallas should have just traded him.

Prescott is not worth that kind of money.

Ad revenue. The consumer is already absorbing not only some, but most, of the expense, as pass through.

It's much the same on the internet. Ad revenue is monstrous and how so many apps and sites remain "free".

Trade Prescott for a mid 1st round pick

Dallas takes both first picks this year + their 1st in 2022 and trade for DeShaun Watson

or use the extra 1st round pick to trade up and draft QB Wilson or fields.

All 3 QBs are better than Prescott imo

Not disputing that at all. I'm simply posing the question of when is it not enough. Thats all.

And if I'm totally wrong, I'm totally wrong. I'm just asking the question.
