A prediction on Carlos Rogers

Kansas City Chiefs – Carlos Rogers, CB, Auburn
This pick could change by draft day if Kansas City nabs Ty Law in free agency or Miami's Patrick Surtain in a trade. If the Chiefs were to acquire one of those players, they would likely look for a defensive end here. Barring one of those additions panning out, the Chiefs will go with Rogers, whose stock has risen since very impressive workouts leading up to the draft. Clearly the best defensive player for Auburn last season, some argue Rogers could be a more complete cornerback down the road than West Virginia's Adam Jones and Miami's Antrel Rolle.

I hope he does pay off he we do choose him.

However, I still wonder, does anyone post their post-predictions five years after the fact? To see how accurate they truly are? I mean I see a bunch of "this guy will be this" and "this guy will be that", but if it were so accurate, why even have a 5-7th round? After all, the guaranteed picks would already be playing.

I think even if they get Surtain or Law, they still need a corner to play the ever more important nickle spot. Do we really want to have McCleon/Bartee/Battle be our most likely to play at that position. Getting a guy now assures that when Warfield is no longer able to compete, we have a replacement ready. Additionally, whoever we get this year in FA is likely only a 1-2 year bandage.

this tends to be my thinking as well

i think antrel Rolle struggles slightly as a cornerback in his 1st year or 2 due to a slightly slow change of direction.

he'll get moved to free safety ... he'll be a great free safety IMO.

i think pacman's size keeps him from being a #1 cornerback.

That's what I've believed the entire time. He doesn't have quite the athletic ability of Rolle (though he's not too far behind), but he makes up in whatever he lacks by playing smart.

I have yet to see what makes Pac Man the top corner in the draft, and while I'd take Rolle in an instant, Rogers seems to be the type of guy that can come in, contribute instantly and steadily progress throughout his career as a more than solid CB.

Seriously if we get Surtain I think KC will be looking for a LB in the first.Johnson/Davis will be the selection if the Surtain deal occurs. Hopefully Johnson will be targeted
