Are you a litterbug?

I really hate it when I am fishing and I see people have left their trash or when I am driving and I see people going out of their way to litter by rolling down the car window and throwing trash outside. So I am curious if its mostly just a few terrible people or if it is a pretty common thing.

I have a friend in Stanton county and there was a fire that got going and he said the fire was moving 42MPH. The only thing that put it out was there was a half section of growing wheat that they were able to drive it towards

So even if you aren't a "litterer" necessarily, be sure to secure stuff so it doesn't blow away!

This is definitely true. Sometimes it’s unavoidable, especially on the highway, but there are times when I see people filling their trash cans with loose items way beyond what you should expect the trash arm to keep secured.

Nope. I might dump out a drink that's been sitting in the truck for a day but then I throw the bottle away when I get home or stop somewhere.

Another thing that pisses me off is all the people who cant seem to walk 18 feet to put their ****ing shopping cart in the rack.

Yeah, so far each year I have walked with the fire department to clean up a few miles of our local highway.
It is just disgusting what people throw out and it gets really bad on the Holiday weekends.
From my limited experience, most of it is alcohol containers.

Except some stores lots are so huge and they have hardly any cart racks in the lot to justify walking far, when you could put it on a meridian out of the way.

Which probably wouldn’t be there if they’d stop charging people for open, empty containers.

Many years ago, the state of Nebraska put out a request for research proposals to examine the trash thrown out on highways. Essentially, one would collect the trash and then categorize it, presumably so they could figure out who to target with educational messaging. I was fascinated by it and wanted to put a proposal together for it despite the fact that my employees were horrified at the thought. Something ended up preventing me from actually submitting the proposal, though. I don't remember what, but I regretted not being able to pick up and study trash on the side of the road.

Just butts out the car window. Otherwise, no.

I was pretty bad about it when I was younger, though.

Yeah, I would always field strip them (Twist the fire end off) then either pocket them to throw away later, or pitch them in a nearby trash can. When fishing, I always carry out as much litter as I can. pisses me off how people treat the lakes and woods.

Definitely shouldn't have been a public poll. Even so, probably wouldn't have gotten honest responses.
