Vacation in Orange Beach, AL

So, we're heading to Orange Beach next week, and, of course, it's supposed to rain the majority of the time we're there. We are going to head up to Mobile for a day to visit the USS Alabama (the kiddo will love the submarine), and we are hoping to be able to do a public charter fishing trip Thursday morning (day with least chance of rain). My niece highly recommends Sea N Suds in Gulf Shores.

Any recommendations for other things to do in case we get rained out of some on-the-water activities? The kiddo's 8th birthday will be that Wednesday that we're there. Thanks!

I ran a half-marathon in Gulf Shores if you're interested in recreating the route. It wasn't my fastest time, but wasn't my slowest. But apparently people in Alabama are slow, because I placed well.

Trivia: it is impossible to get seafood in Gulf Shores that isn't deep-fried.

Trivia2: The beach at Gulf Shores is one of the prettiest beaches I've ever seen. I think it's in my top two all-time.

Trivia3: There's a ferry that will take you from Fort Morgan to Dauphin Island as a shortcut to avoid driving all the way around Mobile Bay. Unless of course you wait two hours and the ferry never shows up. Ask me how I know that.

If you can make it to the state line the Floribama bar and grill is supposed to be pretty cool. It’s gotta be better than Gulfport, MS which is a swell place if you like watching homeless people fish.
