The goal for this draft was to get tougher and meaner in the front 7. A poor run defense prevented us from an AFCCG appearance on 2016. Then Veach and Reid saw KC get pushed around by Tennessee, in Arrowhead, in the playoffs, and said "Never Again."
Speaks is a backup OLB. He will play, and be an important defensive piece. He is already better than old man Hali, and is a much tougher and more physical player than Zombo. Speaks is a big tough guy who isn't gonna get knocked on his ***. Same thing can't be said for Hali or Zombo last year |

I guess I should have saw it coming but didn't. I was looking at CB/S and Veach was thinking "if we're a bunch of soft pussies up front it doesn't matter who's covering." If I noticed anything it looked like Veach thought "I saw what Dorsey did and I don't agree..."

I think a part of our problem in recent years has been not only that we've not been a super physical-in-the-trenches-team but also that guys wear down. So Having good depth a nasty streak is crucial to being fresh in the fourth quarter. He'll play, he'll play a lot; whether he opens the game on the first possession or not doesn't matter. |
