Worst Case First Round shake-out?

Fellas, I did my initial first round mock all the way through, and it leaves the Chiefs pretty high and dry.

What do you do in this scenario? I put Coleman in as a filler and I would rather trade down out of this spot.

Anyone think this could happen with our 1st pick, if say Worthy is already off the board? I know we need a LT, so thought this might be interesting.
If we stay put or move up a couple spots, he’s our guy.

NFL Comparison
Micah Parsons
Overview
Edge defender who offers the type of elite athleticism we’ve seen from players like Micah Parsons and Myles Garrett. Robinson might not be as fast as Parsons, but he’s close. He’s ultra-twitchy with the explosiveness to get on top of blockers and overwhelm them in an instant. However, he will need to level up his hand skills and attack angles to reach his potential against NFL tackles. Robinson’s electric athletic traits alone should give him a floor as a good NFL starter. If he crafts a rush approach and learns to string moves/counters together, he could reach his ceiling as a destructive force capable of forcing teams to game plan around him.
Strengths
Possesses rare explosiveness and speed to overwhelm blockers across from him.
Plays with natural leverage and powerful leg drive to create stress on blocker’s edges.
Wicked pursuit speed reduces space for outside runners and quarterbacks.
Able to do battle with big tackles and still set a firm edge.
Slant quickness creates opportunity to disrupt play design.
Tears out of his stance like a track sprinter into his rush.
Exceptional lower-body flexion to dip way low and corner tightly at the turn.
Finesse tackles without a true anchor will be found out by his bull rush.
Weaknesses
Relatively modest production totals relative to elite traits.
Needs to work on technique and hand usage for block take-ons.
Inconsistent keeping feet under his pads, leading to slippage.
Hands and feet lack harmony as a pass rusher.
Still learning to set up tackles and create his itinerary into the pocket.
Sources Tell Us

“I get the comparison to Micah Parsons, but I think Parsons was a little more polished as a football player when he came out. Chop is still a little green.” - NFC national scout
I think Darius Robinson is more Spags speed, but Chop sure is intriguing.

Agreed but I suspect chop will go 10 picks sooner. He’d be a great value at 32. 4.48 speed and 1.54 10 yard. He faster than Clyde at 6’3” 254 lbs.

In the OP scenario, you still have, at 32, Kingsley, Chop, Darius, Worthy without HAVING to move up from what I see. So the question becomes, who do you want @ 32 if said above mentioned players are ALL still there? Or, do you want to move up and trade with the Cards for Brian Thomas Jr. or Adonai Mitchell?

If its me, there is a clear and significant break in the mix of need/positional value/quality of prospects for the 2024 Chiefs after the top 6 tackles, 5 wide outs, and 5 d-linemen come off the Board.

Worst case scenario for the Chiefs is that the league pushes QBs, DBs and IOL down the Board, leaving us with quality players available who are unlikely to contribute significant value over existing rostered players.

So there needs to be a trigger for a trade up, imo, and it needs to leave a cushion for a few players.

Alternatively, if we can trade down and pick up more day 2 assets, that is preferable to taking a Kool-Aid or Graham Barton or a Jordan Morgan. Problem is, if you wait 'til 32 to find out who will call, you have abdicated control of the situation.

I suspect this is why Veach likes to trade up and get his guy in value pockets, and I expect that to be the approach if they don't like how the draft board is breaking after the first 15 or so picks.

Ideal trade down scenarios could include teams with excess overall draft capital and multiple day 2 picks, such as the Cardinals. So they probably try and line up some suitors for pick 32 and start calling for trade ups as these position groups start falling off the board.

As a personal note, I like the "**** you" element of trading ahead of the Cowboys and the Bills, if the board breaks this way. The Cowboys ****ed us last year in a trade up scenario and the Bills are doing everything in their power to limit our opportunities to acquire talent.

I think we'd probably go X Worthy, but I like Franklin or Coleman a lot too. One of the Robinsons on defense might be the smart pick, then trade up in the 2nd for a WR. Per previous post, D Robinson is probably more of a Spags guy and could play some of Omenihu's snaps until he's back.
