Clash of the Sitcoms: Round 2, Heat 15.

Don't be a stinker. Vote in this heat.

As we finish the round, this heat is slightly larger, with six shows.

Vote for your FOUR favorites.

By the way, there'll be one more heat after this and then a mercy heat. Then we're on to Round 3, where the competition will get intense.

Top three were easy for me, and then it got hard.

#1 - The Office (US version). Interesting characters, and we all feel like we're Jim.

#2 - Night Court. Good setting, good characters. Likeable and fun.

#3 - M*A*S*H. Could easily be #2 on my list, and may move up if they meet again. While it's easy to rant about Alan Alda's whiny rants, the foundation of the show was humor and they did it well.

#4 - The Brady Bunch. Not a strong contender, but I threw it a bone because it's fun to watch in a horrified sort of way.

Didn't make the cut.

#5 - Sanford and Son. It had its moments and might be better than the Brady clan, but I'm feeling very Brady today.

#6 - All in the Family. As noted in the previous round, watching people argue doesn't entertain me. Other than on Chiefsplanet, of course.

The opening theme song to MASH makes me want to go off myself. Never got into it.

To be fair, it was probably just before my time.

The theme song for the show was an instrumental.

Sanford and Son and Night Court...

One otherwise fine show rules itself out with its endless proselytizing/propaganda spiel.

Seriously? #6? The series was a parody and an eye opening event each week. Legendary for the period.

Uh....no.

Through early morning fog I see

visions of the things to be

the pains that are withheld for me

I realize and I can see...

[REFRAIN]:

that suicide is painless

it brings on many changes

and I can take or leave it if I please.

I try to find a way to make

all our little joys relate

without that ever-present hate

but now I know that it's too late, and...

[REFRAIN]

The game of life is hard to play

I'm gonna lose it anyway

The losing card I'll someday lay

so this is all I have to say.

[REFRAIN]

The only way to win is cheat

And lay it down before I'm beat

and to another give my seat

for that's the only painless feat.

[REFRAIN]

The sword of time will pierce our skins

It doesn't hurt when it begins

But as it works its way on in

The pain grows stronger...watch it grin, but...

[REFRAIN]

A brave man once requested me

to answer questions that are key

is it to be or not to be

and I replied 'oh why ask me?'

[REFRAIN]

'Cause suicide is painless

it brings on many changes

and I can take or leave it if I please.

...and you can do the same thing if you please.

MASH should be divided into two entries, the funny early seasons and preachy later seasons.
