Reports say Mangini out as Jets' head coach

Eric Mangini is out as head coach of the New York Jets, 1050 ESPN Radio and various other New York media outlets are reporting.

Mangini and the Jets missed out on the playoffs after losing to Miami on Sunday. The Jets lost four of their last five games.

The Jets are scheduled for a 10 a.m. ET news conference. Mangini is not expected to attend.

This is what I hate about firing Carl and keeping Herm for a time. All these other teams will have their new HC in place while we have to wait to get our GM hired.

In my naive little dream world I hope the reason why they made the announcement so soon was to be proactive in the gm search. That being said I think it was Carl Petersons final ploy to sell some tickets on the way out.

my standards are high, and I would hate if we hire someone who's just better than Herm.

Besides Mangini is pretty bad, this is a coach who's team passed at the opposing teams 1 yard line on 4 downs. He pretty much forced the teams best LB out. And couldn't get his team to seal the deal in the final 4 weeks despite playing against much inferior opponents.
