Mechanical Keyboards
Anyone use them? I'm thinking about getting one, primarily for gaming but also because I understand that they're pleasant to type on.
I've been reading about the various Cherry switches and I think I'm probably looking for Brown (tactile response, no enhanced audible response). I'm afraid that the Blues would be too noisy for the people around me (wife/kids) and I think I'd rather have the tactile bump than the smooth alternatives (Black and Red). I haven't actually felt any of these. Any recommendations or warnings? This is the keyboard I'm currently considering, but it's pretty pricey so I'm a little hesitant to jump in without much knowledge: Max Keyboard Nighthawk x8 |

Never understood the allure of a mechanical keyboard. Especially considering the price. And I'm in front of a keyboard for a majority of the day.

Then you've got a decent one.
I don't mind the full size apple chicklet keyboard that they make out of the spare aluminum from the displays. Before that I was using a Microsoft ergonomic and was seriously considering getting a Tactile Pro or something similar. Eventually I'll find an old Apple Extended at a yard sale or something. |

I'm with you. My personal computer's keyboard is a wireless ergo, while my work keyboard is a wired normie. While the wires don't matter much to me, anytime I have to type anything for work, it's just a nightmare.

I have this one and I enjoy it. The keys aren't terribly loud.

No, I just wanted a mechanical keyboard because I like the noise of them.

I'm asking you about the red switches, not about the mechanical keyboard. Why red?

But i really want a mechanical Keyboard to go with it. I played around with the Razer mechanical board at Fry's and loved the way it felt and sounded. It felt really responsive. |
