You're not going to understand the allure if you think Golden Corral, Branson, and/or the Golden Girls (unless you're going on NCR) have anything to do with cruising.

The food is really good, and not just 'for a buffet', and they have high dollar stuff, too. Entertainment varies quite a bit from ship to ship... the one I went on had a rock climbing wall, basketball/volleyball courts, an ice skating rink, performance theater and movie theater, something like 8 pools, roller blading, a bunch of crafts, comedy, shopping, club-like parties; and if that's too much, a private balcony is a great way to get away from people... if you can't find something that interests you on the ship, much less at port, you're either a 15 year old without his xbox and/or have a very narrow view of entertainment.

we worked out a lot on the "at sea" days.

half of the trip was at ports though, and that was the best part.
