Have you noticed this Offensive Play-calling difference?

Or is it just me?

It seems to me that when we are pinned deep in our own territory, especially inside the 10 yard line, that we seem to put together long scoring drives, for either field goals or touchdowns. And it seems on these long drives we are more aggressive, calling plays that allow Alex to target receivers down the field instead of to the sideline.

But, when we get good field position, which is often, we seem to be conservative, throwing a lot of passes to the sidelines. Smith throws so often to the sides of the field, I am surprised he hasn't thrown a couple of pick sixes already.

Has anyone else noticed this difference? And if you noticed this difference too, can you tell me why it isn't the other way around? Aren't teams usually more conservative deep in their own territory, and more aggressive when the other team gives them great field position?

He has, but they have been fortunate that the DB's are dropping the ball.

With a little change of luck, this team could easily have a couple of losses on its record.
I really hope this offensive funk is distinguished before the luck runs out.

This defense is too good to have the offense holding it back.

Pinned deep means the defense has a ton of grass behind them to cover.

In the red zone the field tightens and the defense has less grass behind them to cover.

JFC, are you new to football? Every QB throws passes that were "almost" picked off. Berry had 2 "almost's" yesterday

i think there are points in the game where Brad Childress (or Andy) takes over the playcalling when Pederson struggles. Since this is his first year as an "OC"

The play calling has been a bit predictable and not nearly enough run calls when we need them. Hopefully this is something that will be fixed.

Please get rid of the endzone fade route when we need 3 yards or less-it rarely works. Just run the ball and have faith in JC that he can make something happen.

Yeah, I'd like to see more run calls. Yesterday wasn't so bad.
