Is it time to replace Arrowhead with a dome?

The cold, crappy Dec/Jan. KC weather doesn't appear to provide any real home field advantage anymore.

At least the fans wouldn't be so miserable in a nice climate controlled facility. No more thousands of no shows or leaving at halftime on bad weather days.

Exactly.

Teddy Bridgewater's leg exploded in the Vikings' indoor practice facility, for crying out loud. It was non-contact and everything. He was just dropping back to pass and BAM!

And i'm pretty sure Jamaal Charles had one of his ACL injuries in Indy, or possibly Detroit. Both indoor stadiums.

People are upset that we couldn't make it out of Week 17 without getting a season-ender to one of our starters. They're looking for excuses and things they can blame. The outdoor field and that damn undiverted Missouri River are the cause!

The part that confuses me is that Arrowhead's climate is pretty moderate by NFL standards. Green Bay, Buffalo, New York, Philly, Pittsburgh, Chicago are worse just off the top of my head.

Some of my fondest memories with my dad were spent sitting in Arrowhead in ridiculous weather and having a great time. Why anyone would want to dumb down the experience so that a bunch of wine and cheesers can further price out fans who don't run away when the temperature drops below 60 is beyond me.

I can just see it now:

"Excuse me, but we want to divert the Missouri River."

"Okay. Why would we want to do that exactly?"

"Because of the curse, of course! We have to move Arrowhead stadium because of the curse that's preventing the Chiefs from winning a SB! And the only way to do that is to move the river!"

"Riiiiiiiiiight. No problem, sir. Here, try on this nice jacket with the sleeves in the back while we go ahead and find the proper paperwork . . ."

Ok "real fan"

But like I said before a Mahomes game with playoff implications shouldn't have the empty seats this one did or the broncos one did. I don't know how you can disagree with that.

You're talking about an experience you had as a kid. The experience is different now. People would much rather watch the games on tv than in the cold because of how good technology has come. Of course as a kid watching the game live was better than watching it on your families 20 inch tube tv.

If you can't 40 degrees you should probably just stay home and watch it on TV.

Home attendance at Arrowhead this year is #6 in the NFL. If you want to look at it as percent full, it's right at league average. And who has a shit ton of empty seats? Dallas. A dome in what is probably the league's biggest football markets.

Come on most people thought NE would take care of their end of business and we were really just playing for the 3 spot. Right or wrong the fans today are not the same as the fans of old. Sixty dollar parking and sky high ticket prices and concessions have pushed the average working joe out and a more affluent crowd in. They tend to be more reserved and easily justify burning four season tickets for the comfort of home.

Do you know what's happening at Arrowhead in 2 weeks? Have you looked at prices for this event?

Can you fathom a world where people might save their money for the real thing, against a team that hasn't lost twice as many games as they've won.... and not "they might be playing a different team in the playoffs"?

FFS, it was 40 degrees..... get some heated socks or foot warmers or a decent pair of boots and a couple layers of socks.... no one is skipping out on a football game solely because it's 40 degrees.

I wonder how close we were to moving up in the rankings. If Mahomes hadn't blown out his leg, that Minnesota game probably gets close to a full house.

You're acting like the fact that the Chiefs play outside is a deterrent. I just don't see any evidence that's true. Some of the worst-performing teams in the league for attendance are either warm weather stadiums or domes.
