Other Sports Stay in your lane - swimming rules fail

This swimmer won his race by a lot, wins the ACC tithe, and earned some sort of automatic important nationals qualifier. The violation occurs at about 40 seconds. The explanation for the violation at 4:55. Basically other races were still going so he shouldn’t have fallen in the other lane even though that guy was done and congratulating him also. Yay or nay on this disqualification?

It's a shitty rule because he didn't interfere with any other swimmers. In most events, the swimmers finish within a few seconds of one another, but in the 1650, the winner could finish a length, or more, before other swimmers.

Can't blame the refs - they are just enforcing a bad rule.
