Best team in Chiefs history?

Simple Rating System (SRS) is a calculation determining how good a team is, using (1) margin of victory and (2) strength of schedule. A margin of 5/game with an SOS of -0.5 results in an SRS of 4.5.

The Chiefs right now hold the #1 SRS and it's not even close: 12.3, Rams 9.5, Saints 8.3, Pitt 7.5. Chiefs have finished with the #1 SRS in their Leafue only ONE TIME in 59 years. When was it?

(Note: 1969-1969 we had 10 AFL teams, 1970-1995 about 26 post merger, and 1995-on 32 teams)

I don't give a **** about stats in this case. Grbac was ****ing ASS that year and when Rich took over, the ride began. And what a ****ing ride it was. Rich had mojo and more importantly, he had that team believing that they could take ANYONE who dared cross their path.
That defense, Gannon, and Marcus Allen were a ****ing MACHINE.

Such a different era than when we won the Superbowl. Twice the number of teams and the game has gotten much more complex. The chiefs just happened to be one of the first teams to be good back then. We were lucky to have good timing.

This team would beat that one like a drum.

Except the "ride" never happened. They were the SAME team with Grbac that they were with Gannon. Anybody that actually watched the games and wasn't suffering from "anybody but Grbac" syndrome could see it.

I'm confused.

The thread title says "best team in Chiefs history" and your post says "the answer".

Is it team history or NFL history or what?

Because the best SRS in team history was 1968.

Oh I see it now. The thread title and the body of the post don't match. Bait and switch!

In all seriousness, you accidentally asked two questions.

Best team in Chiefs history, according to SRS, is 1968.

Only time the Chiefs led the league in SRS? 2003.

Maybe but if the the 69 or 70 chiefs had the same training diet coaching etc as players today who knows. Vice versa bring todays kid back to that time. This is why you cant compare but as far as mental toughness the teams of old blows them away.

Nope, I actually attended two games, one with Grbac and one with Gannon. But let's just leave this alone anyway, this argument destroyed the KC Star board in 1999/2000.

Yeah, you don't get it.

Best team = best team in the sport. It was harder to rack up a high SRS number in a league with more parity, so it's harder to be 2003 KC than 1969 KC.

2093? Is Mahomes still playing?

And yes, I admitted fully that I was mislead by the incongruence between your thread title and the body of your post.

Seriously though, I totally misunderstood the purpose of your post. Your explanation clears it up. Thanks.
