Peters Suspended

One game. Per Andy.

Summary from Andy (paraphrase) : Best for organization. Talked to Peters. Difficult to do as I like Peters.

I'm sure double standards exist. In the end I don't feel sorry for odell and personalities like him because if they acted like teammates and didn't put themselves first they wouldn't be within ten miles of trouble to begin with.

That doesn't mean we shouldn't seek out fixing actual double standards that exist. It just means people should hold themselves to standards and then they wouldn't have to worry about any potential bullshit. Peters doesn't get suspended if he didn't have prior outbursts, some of them selfish.

Whether it's unfair compared to kelce or not doesn't absolve Peters of his behavior. He can blame himself for the state he is in. "Well other people do it" is a defense that should be left for teenagers that don't get real life yet. Watching adults use it makes me feel sorry for them. Just not mentally capable of being a responsible adult.

I am not so sure. We just may see a very motivated group, especially if he was the locker room problem that some, including me, suspect.

If he does tweet that, if they do get their asses kicked, it accentuates his lack of team loyalty and commitment which could be part of the problem.

There are enough things about Peters the person that trickle out here and there that I won't call him 'a thug' because I don't think he is. I think he's fiercely loyal to friends and would walk through fire for his family. I really do think he has a soft spot for children. I think there are a lot of good things about Marcus Peters the person.

But right now Marcus Peters the player seems completely disengaged for big chunks of the game and the only time he comes alive is when he's losing his cool over something.

Dude's gotta get his head on right. I still think seeing a shrink would be good for him.
It’s almost the whole damn team that’s doing it.

Looks like a coaching issue

Huge embarrassment to the team and franchise. Kelce ABSOLUTELY would have been suspended if he had left the field during a game. But he didn't. To say that the team's actions were related to race in any way is either deceitful or misinformed.

Add in Peter's attitude, penalties, fighting with the DC, anthem issue, recent poor performance/lack of effort and you get disgruntled fans. Even then, you still have some fans supporting him. And some of those fans have posted here. Aside from the few racists out there, no Chiefs' fan wants to see a good, starting player (at a position of weakness) misbehave and get in trouble. Regardless of race. Fans want to see their team win. (Alex Smith may be the exception here. )

BTW, NFL coaches are in the business of winning games in a league that consists of primarily black players. A racist HC would not last long in the NFL. Andy Reid has been a HC since 1999.

Not sure if you're new, a mult, troll or what. But I do know that you are wrong about this. And you're looking bad in the process.

The play where Peters had the perfect break on the pass from Taylor to Clay and he just ****ing completely short-armed it pretty much sums up Peters this season. Peters in his first two seasons takes that and houses it for 6. Peters this season just ****ing quit on it and it was completed for a big gain.

Yes and Yes. Pretty sure everyone here would be glad to keep Peters if he straightens out his behavior and plays with effort and conviction. Can't blame folks for being skeptical with his history. "Show me."

A lot of folks dogged Kelce when he was showboating & acting a fool to the team's detriment. Now that he's not committing silly penalties and producing on the field (big time), he's not getting the fans' ire. Same could be true for Peters.

Yeah and if he makes that play, they win.

People have to hear it, but this season hasn’t been that much different than last year, they just havent gotten a break here or there and won.

Yep, it was to the point where you knew Kelce was going to **** up
with a penalty and you were waiting for a flag to come.

When it didn't happen it was a relief.

But he has been a saint for quite a few games now. Reid got through to him obviously. Fingers crossed it works the same with Peters.

Either some here are just dumb ass kids or have yet to be in a position of authority and decision making. If you think the Chiefs didn't do do diligence and question others. They must be darn sure he was informed he was not ejected. They may even have an admission from MP when the facts were presented to him. You do know you suspend a player without pay that the NFLPA is going to get a report and if it doesn't pass muster will defend MP. Has MP filed a grievance? We will see but I think this was a suspension with cause.

For as poorly as Smith played and for as out of sorts the whole team was that entire game, THAT play was the most easily made and most obviously decisive play of the entire game.

It was a play that a ****ing D-Lineman manages to catch and house about 1/2 the time. The throw was all but right into his chest and he does some kind of bizarre leap out of the way move to somehow avoid it.

If that would've happened in Madden I'd have gotten so mad that I turned the game off; **** that bullshit, I get to replay it. I won't let Madden screw me.

That play gets made and even if he doesn't house it, it takes points off the board (I believe that was a FG drive, no?) and I think the Chiefs win it late. And he's been doing stuff like that all year; just odd plays from a guy who's always been a smart player and all of the sudden acts like the game is just surprising him. And some of the mistakes are so unnatural that they look like he screws them up on purpose. I mean seriously, that play looked like someone doing a really REALLY bad job shaving points.

His bookie had to see that play and think "**** me, Marcus - you're going to get both of our legs broke when you get caught..."

He's just not there on Sundays. It's really odd.

All of the stuff DJLN has said amongst others is why you cut bait this offseason if Peters doesn't seriously turn this around... You can't win with guys doing things like he is right now. It will spread like a cancer if it continues, and may have already. There's a reason that the 'leaders' on the team were okay with the suspension.

Who said the “leaders” were “okay” with the suspension?

The coaches know better than us what's going on outside the lines so I'd defer to them if they decide to keep him around. Maybe he's having family issues or baby mama drama or something we just don't know about that's caused this season to go off the rails and he just can't get it back on track.

Or maybe he's just being a monumental asshole.

If it's the latter, I suspect you're right - he'll be moved. But if they don't trade him, I won't excoriate them for it. They have insight that we don't.

The whole thing just doesn't make sense. He shouldn't just be coming apart like this. Was Berry really that critical to keeping him focused and tuned in to the game?

With almost the entire offense set to return in 2018, it would be a good time to make such a move. Recoup a pick or two in the draft, commit to rebuilding the defense with the newfound cap space and picks.
What does it actually cost to send him walking?

VS put him on IR till playoffs when if he's not in the game trade him?
