What is something that is secretly cool about your job?

I own a couple of small businesses. The main benefit is being your own boss, which can be a blessing or a curse.

I could say my favorite benefit is that I never have to purchase alcohol. We put on a number of high dollar fundraising events which I control the catering. When ever we get the opportunity to control the bar I play bartender and basically purchase what I want. Any left overs go home with me. I don't really over purchase, but there are times when people just are not in the mood to drink and I really score some great stuff. I have not bought a bottle of wine or beer in years. When people come to the house they are always amazed at my selection. This is more difficult with hard liquor, but when the right event comes along I stock up. I've built a nice scotch collection over the years.

Another benefit is that I have a client who invites me to a number of "business" functions. That's usually 3 or 4 college football games, and one 4-5 day no expense sparred business trip. I actually get to help select the city, which is typically based upon what NFL game is going on. This has allowed me to attend most stadium in the destination cities in the country.

I had 4 10's until about a month ago...for 5 years I had that. Then the powers that be thought I should be present for at least a half a day on Fridays. It sucks, but it's still better than 5 days a week.

I'm also the only guy who does what I do. I'm a System Admin. I'm privy to more information than anyone in the office. I try not to be drunk with power...

I take 2, sometimes 3 hour lunch breaks everyday on the clock. I see the inside of different businesses all over Springfield/Republic/Nixa/Willard. My job has gotten me laid by 4 different women over the last 3 years...a few times on the clock.

I can actually take a piss in any building on the farm without having to go find a real bathroom.

1. I wear jeans, a golf shirt and Keens half the year, and jeans, button down and boots the other half.

2. I make my own travel schedule and I'm gone about 2-3 days of every week.

3. I've owned my own business(s) for over 10 years

4. I started my most successful company out the basement of my house - and no, it's not porn or meth

5. I plan to retire in 3 yrs or less

This. And it's incredibly cool. Watching defenses come down, and then hopes and dreams spilling forth from people who completely forgot they knew how is probably the coolest thing I've ever done. And I do it everyday. But not for the next week. It's my turn.
