Herm forgets we only play 16 games.
Herm seems to forget that in the NFL every game is important. His game time mentality is not to make mistakes. No turnovers. But he coaches this to a fault. HE coaches as if we play 32 games not 16.
You have to take calculated chances you can't play not to lose! There are too few games in the regular season to have this mentality. It's a major flaw. When you hamstring your O like this with this mentality it also lowers the chance that they will execute when they actually finally do take a chance. When this happens a coach like Herm will then convince himself to revert back to not take chances. It's a viscious circle. There's a happy medium, and skews way to the extreme. He just doesn't get it. He will never will The fact of the matter is playing to win is the only way to go. It breeds confidence and even when it fails you can't say you didn't try. If you persist and get over the hump then you eventually succeed to the point when nothing is impossible. Confidence begets more confidence. Looking forward to that again. My hope is we fire both the entire coaching staff and front office. The Lamar Family hires a new dynamic GM (I'm not sure who) who then hires Jason Garrett for his first HC job. |
