Holliday's a born 3 hitter.
Putting him at the 4 behind Pujols was a stupid concession to Albert's ego from the word go.

It depends if we get regular season Holliday or postseason Holliday. He actually puts up good numbers consistently in the regular season if healthy. If Freese continues to hit the ball like he did in the postseason, you could easily see him in the 3 or 4 spot.

I think the plan is probably to start Beltran in right and slowly move Craig into an outfield rotation. Jay is a very good fielder in center, but his bat can disappear. It gives us good depth in the outfield in case of injuries given Beltran's ability to play both center and right. It also gives us extra pop at DH in the series.

I love Freese as a 6 hitter in the Renteria mold.

My first thought when I heard this was the Waino pitch.

My 2nd thought was the 2004 NLCS when he absolutely destroyed the world. I still don't know that he's a great fit and I still don't know that he's going to be worth $13 million/season, but there's some ability there. Here's hoping that lightening strikes twice and we can get another 'Berkman' season from him.

I don't know if Beltran is a $13MM player, but I think he can be a $10MM player. Hopefully moving to a more pitcher friendly park away from the caverns of Citi Field and Pac Bell help his power #s, and his knees hold up to manning center and right.

Really like the signing. I really don't have much of a problem with the 13M per year figure and particularly in light of a 2 year deal. Not expecting his base stealing or defense of old but seems like he could be the perfect duct tape to the lineup and OF rotation this year after the loss of Albert.

I've read/heard its Beltran in right. Berkman at first. Jay in center. Craig the 1B of the future. This year fill in for Berkman and beltran. Also for Jay but Beltran moves to CF and Craig plays right.
If true.....I can get On board with this plan.

In 2004, 2005 and 2006 I never would have guessed that I would end up liking Beltran (considering he produces) and Berkman. Big Puma is hands down, one of my faves on the team now.

That was a wicked curve in a pressure situation. MadE even more impressive because Beltran had been killing us.
