****2018-2019 Official NBA Regular season thread****

Didn't see anybody starting this thread so I guess I will.

Anti climatic season starts tonight and my prediction is GS vs Boston in the NBA Finals.

First 2 Games tonight on TNT with Philly vs Boston and OKC vs GS. Westbrook is out tonight so that game will be a blowout most likely.

But he chokes out in the playoffs. You know...the part of the season we're in. So why are you trying to use regular season stats when we know he plays differently in the playoffs? And the metrics you've provided prove that in the playoffs Giannis is a better player.

That's still all true. Irving was no prime Dwayne Wade (top 50 player in history) or Steph Curry (top 20 player in history and the best #2 option in the history of basketball), but he's still a far better #2 option than a 33 year old Wade whose knees were shot and had become a barely league average player by 2015.

Because you asked why I believed Harden is a better offensive superstar than Giannis. The answer was because, over a large and much more meaningful sample of games, he simply is. When he isn't shitting himself due to the pressure, he blows Giannis out of the water. If he ever decided to not do that in the playoffs (and it is conceivable), he/the Rockets could beat that team because of that offensive ability and the superior analytical Rockets system.

But we're talking about playoffs... Why would how Harden plays in the regular season matter if he shits the bed in the playoffs each time? A player that's consistent from regular season to post season is the better offensive superstar.

So we're back to LeBron leaving because he didn't feel comfortable with his titles. If he did, he would have stayed and rode Wade out until Wade truly became ineffective. And seeing as the Heat won 48 games on 2015, they still would have contended for titles for at least 2-3 more years.

James Harden is the Chiefs personified in a basketball player. We all know how that goes when it actually matters.

It matters for the purposes of explaining why/how Harden is a better offensive player than Giannis when all things are considered equal. That Harden is a choker in the playoffs regularly had nothing to do with that.

LeBron didn't leave because he didn't feel comfortable with his titles. He left because leaving was the only route to winning another.

Which, of course, is the complete opposite decision to Durant leaving the greatest dynasty the league has ever seen (and the guaranteed titles that would bring) to save his legacy.

Not much different than LeBron returning to Cleveland to save his legacy from The Decision.

Wade's WS/48 was 0.86, his BPM 1.6 and his VORP 1.6 the year after LeBron left (for reference, it was .227, 6.3, and 3.5 only three years before that when they won their first title). PJ Tucker was more valuable than him that year.

If Wade never declines to that extreme extent, Miami keeps winning titles and LeBron likely plays in Miami for at least another 4-5 years. He wasn't concerned about saving his legacy in going to Cleveland, he was concerned about winning.

LeBron's the one that said he wanted to bring a title to Cleveland. After his ridiculously egotistical 'Decision' television special that soured his standing in the league for years it's no wonder. I'd have felt like shit too. Of course, he eventually just ****ed off to Los Angeles to get fat and happy on movie money, so good for him.

Lies^^^

Wade was the only reason they had a shot against Dallas in the ‘11 finals.

They still lost.

Tough scene for MJ here. I was told he could do no wrong.
