I'm also going to mention Lensman (1984). There is a collection of six books in the Lensman series by E E 'Doc' Smith and several other works, some of which was done with his written permission. Unfortunately I'd be afraid of it getting the John Carter treatment so I'd rather no one tried it unless it was going to be done well.

Starship Troopers is a good pick. I actually enjoyed the first one, but it does have a lot more potential.
I'm rolling with Spawn as my first pick. That movie sucked shit yet the comic franchise was pretty awesome.

I'm going to throw in The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz. It may be necessary to start with the second book in the loooooong series just to kick off a new franchise, but just make the thing more loyal to the source material rather than a star vehicle.

There was this move that came out around ten years ago called In Time, I think. It had Justin Timberlake, Olivia Wilde, Cilian Murphy. It had a pretty cool premise. It was in the future. They had set up some sort of technology to where everyone would age like normal until 25 and then they had this timer on their forearm of exactly how many hours, minutes, seconds they had left until they'd die. Instead of using money, everything was paid for in time. You'd go to the corner store and a cup of coffee was 5 minutes. Shit like that.
Anyway, most people in the middle and lower class only had enough time to make it through the day while the bourgeoise had enough time to live forever if they wanted to. It's been a while since I've seen it but the movie kind of fell flat in the end. Maybe a remake could do it better. |

I would kind of like to see a remake of Logan's Run but I don't think anyone would really do a good job of it.

Pretty much every King Arthur movie ever made. Holy shit. Are there any good ones? That’s like the story everybody knows but hasn’t had a good movie. Ever.
All the Jack Ryan movies. Goddamn it, fools. Roll this up into a good comprehensive series. There are some good individual pieces, but ****ing do it right and commit to the series. You ****s. |

The Towering Inferno.
I've thought this for years. Easily done too with the massive jump in special effects since the 70s. Plus, there's any number of huge stars to get to play all the parts. Leo, RDJ, Cruise, Clooney, Will Smith, etc are all possibilities for the Doug Roberts/O'Halloran roles. |
