The Chiefs had pressing needs after a rough free agency, and they still have massive questions on the offensive line and at wide receiver. Dee Ford is a nice long-term gamble, but should start his career as a part-time player. Third-round cornerback Phillip Gaines seems more like a developmental prospect. Fourth-round RB/WR/return/cornerback/football player De'Anthony Thomas is a wild card. This was a draft in which the Chiefs needed some instant-impact players, and it's hard to see them here.

Did we need to give Peyton Manning a second year in the nfl before we were able to grade him or did we assume he was an average qb according to his rookie stats? I don't know how many times I've seen teams with multiple, sexy picks and think wow they're gonna be tough. Following year and the team is still mediocre. All those high picks detroit invested in their D line should have made the line a wall but Suh is all you hear.

These next day draft rankings make me chuckle every year. You can't win anything in April (or May). You can't predict or rate any player's performance. The draft, and its aftermath, is a beauty contest, and the talk afterwards is ultimately as meaningless as the talk beforehand.

You know what'll make this a good draft? The majority of these guys playing well enough in the next four years to earn new deals in 2018. A couple of them become stars and it'll have been a great one.

That is the problem with doing nothing in free agency and relying exclusively on the draft to fill all of the team's needs.

Relying on 6 picks in the draft to fill an entire offseason's worth of needs was a poorly calculated decision by Dorsey and was exacerbated by the fact the Chiefs failed to address the weakest position on their team (WR).

Where else during the remainder of the offseason will the Chiefs have an opportunity to significantly upgrade their WR position?
