So Glad I'm not an AZ Cardinals fan

Sounds like they're seriously going to trade Josh Rosen. That would be two first round QB drafts in consecutive years.

Dumbasses.

Chiefs Fan advocated for that for years.

A couple thoughts from a Tech fan...

1) IF you think Kyler is the guy, this is an easy no brainer. Essentially, they would have paid two 1st round picks, a 3rd round pick, and a 5th round pick for a franchise QB plus whatever they get back for Rosen. At the end of the day, that is effectively what the Chiefs paid for Mahomes. Every single team in the league would trade that for a franchise QB. Obviously don’t know if Kyler will become one, but Rosen sure as hell didn’t look like one.

2) Kliff. As a Tech fan, I thouht firing Kliff was the correct move and was very surprised he was hired by the Cardinals. However, I don’t think it’s a bad hire. I truly believe he is the greatest offensive mind/coach in America. His problems at Tech were due to a lack of defensive talent (coaches and players) and larger systemic issues that have plagued our football team for decades. He had no veteran guidance helping him and a hands off AD. Every reason that caused him to fail at Tech is a non-factor in the NFL. He has surrounded himself with great coaches (multiple with head coaching experience) who are well respected league wide. Talent deficiency on the defensive side of the ball? Draft elite players or sign them in free agency. We’ll see how it turns out, but I have no doubt that Kliff will coordinate an effective NFL offense, and long term, should be able to field a respectable defense. I think he sticks, will be interesting to follow.

I don’t watch college football but there’s an article on NFL.com about how Penn State’s Trace McSorley might not even get drafted. He’s the same size as Murray. What makes Murray so good he’s a #1?

And there’s a chance neither can play. If there’s any team that can “Royals” a draft, especially in the first round, it’s a team led by Steve Kiem. The dude is just not a great GM. Over the past 6 years, he’s managed to, amongst other things,

1. Not find a single competent WR to pair with a legit top 5 all time WR
2. Spend high draft picks on defensive players that were pretty quickly exposed as poor fits for his team
3. Slowly let a top tier defense fall apart
4. Never find a TE anyone has ever heard of.
5. Hire a coach who immediately castrated his team’s best offensive player
6. Catch an embarrassing suspension for a DUI
7. Pay Sam Bradford a ton of money to be the worst player I’ve ever seen this side of Nathan Peterman
8. And now it appears you’re going to be able to add...Traded up to take a QB in the first round, handed that QB over to the same coach and offensive coordinator that made David Johnson disappear(both of whom you fired)and are now trading away for a project to hand over to your new HC, who is a rookie NFL HC and had a losing record in college.

TLDR- Cardinals suck, Steve Kiem sucks and Rosen, Murray, and Kingsbury probably suck also.

And again, love the fact that I'm not a Cardinals fan (anymore; I was as a kid growing up in Columbia MO).

Is there any reason for NOT trading Rosen for picks/players before drafting Kyler yesterday? I can't think of one. A single one. I used to have some respect for Steve Keim, now I just have to shake my head and wonder just how dumb he really is.

Guess there could be a couple. 1) they actually really were on the fence about drafting Kyler #1. I mean they opened training camp, Rosen reported and Klingsbury has been working him out for a week. It is possible the new staff was giving him a chance to show he was their QB. It seems like right up to the end they had BOSA in for workouts etc. They did not tell Rosen to stay away.

2) The teams wanting a QB maybe were holding off for the 1st round to see if Haskins or Jones would fall to them. or that up to this point the Cards thought maybe they could still get a 1. Probably more the later. I could see the Rosen being the skins fall back option after Haskens and Miami interested in Haskens or Jones depending on which Defensive player available as well.

It only takes one mouth breathing mongoloid to send the card in with your name on it to be drafted. See: Russell, JaMarcus.

That being said, there is a lot to like about Murray. Baseball background like Mahomes. Has a really live arm. Throws well on the move. Runs really well and is savvy enough to make space for himself.

But what I see is a dude that doesn’t play well if you get pressure with respectable containment. His OL at OU is all world. When things got kind of hairy he’d try to escape. And he is a really elusive runner. One look at the Alabama game should cause anyone to pause and rewind the tape. I know Alabama is really good, but so was OUs OL.

Lots of guys look good playing Big 12 defenses and I’m not sold on Murray.

He's a 5-9" one year starter with a rookie HC, a poor O-Line and 1 legit WR.

What could go wrong?
