We know food prices are rising fast. Have you changed what/where you buy?

Have you moved from beef to pork to chicken?

Do you substitute items that you used to buy for something else?

My grocery getter, uh I mean my wife, has a te4ndancy to way over buy shit that we don't use or need or already have.

Didn't bug me much before but I'm trying to get her to be a little more planned out these days. Its getting ridiculous. Only 2 of us and she spends over $150 a week and we eat out every Friday night and most Saturday nights.

buy one of those whole chickens from hyvee

i've found that is the absolute best bang for your buck per pound available now that frozen or boneless chicken is outrageous

roast it and slice it for a few plates of dinner (with some frozen veg usually), then boil down the carcass and all the good stuff comes right off the bone

strain it out and you got some good meat/drippings to make chicken and noodles with a cheap sack of noodles and more frozen veg

that's quite a few meals outta not much...$1.77 a pound right now

I won't buy super lump crab anymore. precovid it was like 35 for a 1 pound can now it's 50 for a 6oz can. Equates to 130 a pound.

Yeah definitely. I like to splurge on top quality ingredients to make dishes we wouldn't ordinarily have. I used to do this once or twice a week since it's typically just for two. Lately I've cut way back on that, maybe once a month now. The Mrs has definitely noticed and isn't happy about it, but I like to eat daily
