1) how often are there earthquakes?
2) is the homeless situation at Venice Beach bad enough that you can't take kids there?
3) where's the location of Dane's star on the walk of fame?

Dane's star is in front of the sexy clothing store. But there's also a man who is very confused and dressed like Wonder Woman.Yes I actually saw that person.

Just so you know, I like Dane. We've had some good conversations on CP

But if you're on Hollywood boulevard, stay away from any of the people that are dressed up. They will want to take a picture with you and expect you to pay them.

1) Not frequent.

2) You'll be fine but it won't be the most pleasant experience. Do beaches in Santa Monica, Marina Del Rey, Manhattan Beach, Malibu - basically any other beach if you want to just have a nice beach day. But if you want Venice Beach for the experience - or to scare your kids with this is what happens if you do drugs - go for it.

3) Inside the Church of Scientology. Go in and ask them about getting clear. That's the password to see Dane's star.

It's incredible what has happened to Venice Beach. If you can think of the most iconic coastal community in LA county, it's Venice Beach. Place was always booming with tourists. Now it's littered with homeless people. Surreal.

I went to a good restaurant in Los Angeles once. I don't remember the name, but it had a blue and white striped awning over the door. Just drive around until you find it.

I just want to walk around the Venice Beach boardwalk during daylight hours. We have a spot in Marina Del Ray, which according to my map, is pretty much a couple of blocks away from Venice Beach. But we wouldn't do "beach day" on Venice Beach.

They're going to kick out the homeless tents soon. But I've lived in LA since 2000 and it's always been pretty sketchy/gritty.

You'll live. The walk from Marina Del Rey (Washington or further South to the Channel) to Venice along the beach is nice - lots of nice houses to look at. It only get sketchy past Venice Blvd. Then it gets nice again when you get to Santa Monica.

Also I highly recommend taking a detour to walk around the Venice canals. They're very nice and not sketchy at all. You can walk to Abbott Kinney which is also pretty nice.
