AFCW: Week 7

Well, here we are ... down to two undefeated teams. That's crazy, but it's good to see the division doing well. And, then last night, the Chargers drop the Colts - moving them to 3-3 with the Raiders at 2-4.

Right now, the AFC West has the best combined wins record of all the divisions, followed by the NFC West at second. Very nice.

Broncos 6-0
Chiefs 6-0
Chargers 3-3
Raiders 2-4

This week, we have the following --

Chargers @ Jaguars
Texans @ Chiefs
Broncos @ Colts
Raiders have the bye
- so they can't lose, right?

Chargers @ Jaguars - this should be one that the Chargers can win outright, but they're traveling to the other coast and this team is one that can definitely topple the Colts one week and follow it up with a loss to the Jaguars. The Jaguars have a lot of issues and while I have this feeling that SD is certainly open to giving the Jags their first win, I just can't project it.
Chargers 20 - Jaguars 17

Texans @ Chiefs - Chiefs are riding high with their defense right now and the offense is doing just enough to hang tight and win it in the end. The Texans have the firepower to do great things, but their in a horrific slump right now and with the way they're giving away the ball - it would be insanity to predict they win at Arrowhead. I don't know that they can cure what ails them in one week, heading to KC. I'd love for it to happen, but again - I think you get more of what you've had the last few weeks. It will be close until late in the 3rd quarter and then the Chiefs will shut it down.
Chiefs 27 - Texans 20

Broncos @ Colts - The SNF game and quite possibly the game of the week, it's certainly the one you will hear the most about. The Broncos were bland in their 16 point win at home vs the Jags, while the Colts laid a 9 point egg on the road at San Diego. You know the story line here ... and I have said that Indy has been one of the better tested teams this year with their schedule. Lots of variables at play and while I'm a lot more confident with what can happen after watching week 6, I'm going to project a little fall from grace here. I think it's a shootout, one much like the week 5 game in Dallas, but I think the Broncos come up a bit short unfortunately.
Colts 44 - Broncos 41

You guys should be able to enjoy the lone distinction as the last undefeated team standing. Anything can happen, but I'm mentally prepared to see Denver fall a bit short because of the defense, despite the return of Von Miller. I know, you'll say I'm doing a reverse double mojo thing to jinx the other team, but I resigned myself a week or two ago that this was a possible loss and I'm not going to let week 6 change that for me.

So, yeah - there you go... enjoy.

I see no way the Chiefs or Donks score that much.

Donks win a tight game in the 20's.

Chiefs might eek out 21 (not likely) but still punk the Texans (I fully expect a huge let down on their part.)

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Really? Indy's defense is good, but SD was the first highly ranked passing attack they've faced and they put up 19. Broncos won't sputter in the redzone and settle for FGs as much. Denver has much better weapons and again, I think the flow of the game will be a shootout.

I've giving KC 27 based on ST/DEF adding a score, I don't think the offense gets to 27.

I think the Montana/Young effect is in play here and they hold Denver down before Luck tries too hard and gives it away.

I think the Texans D tries to hold the season together and does a good job until the 4th (as usual) and the Chiefs capitalize on a pressing QB...

Before the season I had the Texan game as a loss, not so much now. Shame the offense sucks for KC. Denver/Indy should be a joy to watch. I think the AFCW sweeps this week.

Peyton's not going to accept losing to his old team. Donks win this one.

If the Texans put up 20 points on us, I'll change my username to Susan

Yea it doesn't seem likely that Case Keenan is going to drop 20 on the defense giving up 10.8pts a game.

25-10 KC is my prediction. Our averages and no reason to expect it to change.
